Rob C has definitely done his homework! Do you sense the sarcasm? I'm laying it on pretty thick. The transmission on your Accord is 13 years old. It's going to start to have some issues. I'm sure you have over 200,000 miles or very close to it. That is a long way my friend.
As far as the Civic Coupe goes...they are outstanding. However, if you have a family and are looking for some roominess, I'd go with the sedan. The coupe looks sportier and has a decklid spoiler that come with it and is $200 cheaper than the sedan. It also has some limited space in the backseat.
Whatever you decide, Honda is a great brand. Their resale value it #1 in North America and they have been given the honor or being named the "greenest" car company in North America. All of their vehicles get at least 22 mpg. No other company in the world can say that!
I'm completely sold on Hondas! I own 3 and am in the process of buying an S2000 for my wife!

I'll assume that the transmission problem is the first major problem you've had with the '94. If so, I don't think you can complain about a 13 year old car having only 1 major problem.
That said, my wife has a 2004 Honda Civic Coupe, and we haven't had one spec of trouble with it. You can't argue with Honda having one of the best records in Consumer Reports and JD Power. I say go for it.

Just turned 30,000 miles on my 2006 ex. No problems at all. The car rides smoother than a cadillac cts for sure (I worked at a cadillac dealer) Awesome car and extremely reliable. Gas mileage is great also. You cant go wrong with this car. They also are said to hold 60% value over five years so they will save you money long term. Comes standard with side curtain airbags also, something not heard of in cars in its class or even more expensive cars.

My daughter had the 2006 Civic and loved it to pieces. Even I didn't mind riding in it, and I prefer trucks and SUVs.
My opinion...you want a really SAFE car? Buy the Civic. My daughter's was t-boned by a drunk who was driving a Ford F-150, and she came out with nothing more than scratches. Totalled her Civic, but she was fine.
Honda has my vote for side impact.

I've owned Honda's all my life!! They are great cars, and there reliable. The only time you'll have to replace anything on a Honda is regular maintenance. They are great on gas too!! If you do a motor swap, or other major mods that's when you have to maintain them a little more. Otherwise if she's going to leave it stock I think it's a great investment, and she won't be sorry!!

i have an '07 civic ex coupe. i like it a lot. they get around 35-40 mpg and are purely reliable. i don't think you can go wrong buying a honda. the civic might not have enough room for a family, but for the two of you it would be swell!

they rock. owning a honda before, you already know that honda's get great gas mileage. the transmission couldve gone out for a number of reasons including (if it was standard) misusing the clutch when switching gears. another reason may have been wear. after 13 years, maybe the baby needed a break.
