Now. Go for a pre visit to see if you like his/her style. Hopefully your pediatrician will be your lifeline for the next 13 years or so. You need someone that is convient and you can communicate with well. If they won't see you for a no cost pre visit - then you don't want them. They will be too busy to see you when you need them for the baby. Ask about after hours care, what hospitals they use, their thoughts on antibiotics, who you will talk to when you call with a questions, etc.

you really should be looking for a doctor now...a baby starts developing quickly and many thing can affect you baby from colds, to what you eat a doctor can better help you and tell you what you body and baby needs, you are your own person so looking things up on line may not work for everyone and this is you baby and you want to do the best thing possible when bring something so amazing into the world.

You should start looking now. See who is in network with your insurance, who works at the hospital you will be delivering at, and ask other parents who they go to. Narrow your list down to a couple doctors and start calling their offices. Ask questions over the phone to the nurse or even ask if they do Free Pre-Birth Consultations. Go in, meet the doc, and see if you like them. Good luck!

NOW would be a great time. You want to make sure your baby's doc is at the hospital when you give birth (or an associate) Ask your OB for a referral.

Good Luck

I'm soooo in the same boat as you. I tried to ask my midwife for a pedatrician and she told me to ask my friends and family who they chose. I don't like the thought of him being born without a doctor. It's so hard though!! You have to go interview them lol. Good luck to you!
