I am a huge Phillies fan and when they lose or blow it when really need to win like last night becasue the mets and the braves won i start throwing these temper tantrums and my mom said i have to stop unless i can't watch the games any more and that makes me even more angry and then she starts saying that it's just a game and that is when i flipped out in addition to that she said that if i throw one more tantrum before Aug 10th then i won't be able to watch games for the rest of the season. she says that i don't need to start gettin all worked up until Aug 10th becasue i said myself that we play within our division 32 times between Aug and Sept yes 32 times and 17 of those times are with the mets or the braves (our division rivals) so anything can happen in Aug or Sept right?

What you really need to do is learn to control yourself. There is nothing that you can do about how the Phillies play. You cant go out there and hit homers for them or pitch for them right? So, you have to relax a little bit and not let yourself get out of control with temper tantrums. Just enjoy your team and hope for the best.

You probably don't need to stress about them, but I have to say I don't think they'll make the playoffs this year. I can't see them getting past both the Mets and Braves for the division, and there are too many teams between them and the Wild Card spot too. They'd have to go on a big run to contend this year and unfortunately they don't have enough good pitching (besides Hamels) to do it.

I will say though that they have a few very good players (Hamels, Utley, Howard, etc.). If they get some more pitching they could be a serious contender in 2008.

The Phillies have plenty of offense with Howard, Rollins, Utley, Rowand, Victorino..etc. But, their pitching outside of Cole Hamels is bad. I'm sure the Phils will win around 82-86 games this year...not awful, but not good enough to win the East or get a Wild Card.

yeah and i get tantrums when your team the phillies cant beat the wildcard leaders san diego so the cubs can catch up and take over the wildcard and soon the central division.

but its still to early even the yankees still got a chance against the red sox. with the kind of offense the phillies got and the inconsistency of the mets and braves, phillies can catch up and like u said they still got 17 games between the mets and braves.

As a Mets fan, the first 10,000 losses will be as sweet as the next 10,000 losses. The Phillies will finish at least 10 games behind the Mets this season and they will finish under the .500 mark.

The Phillies do this every year - give their fans somw glimmer of hope and then September rolls around and it's "we'll get 'em next year". Sure you should be stressing, they're in a highly competitive division and I think this race goes down to the wire. If the Phillies can somehow improve their pitching, then with their lineup, they should be in it until the end. As a Mets fan, I just hope they tumble before we do. Good luck.

The Phillies have to be considered a contender but it is going to be a difficult up-hill battle for them. I don't believe the NL wild card is going to be coming from the east and that means they would have to finish ahead of both the Mets and Braves to go to the playoffs. It is always more difficult chasing two teams rather than one.

Dearie, you must have an awful easy life if you let a baseball game upset you. Listen to your mother or go to your room. Oh, just wait until you get a little older and have real stress. We might read about you in the paper one day.

Sounds like you need to lay off the caffeine.

But to answer your question, I would consider it a blessing to not have to watch another Phillies game. Ever.

that made me laugh...the part about your mom telling you you can't watch a game again. Anyway you NEVER know what's going to happen so don't give up until the end of the season.
