Our society is lazy, and cable companies are out to make money.
Thank you capitalism... *rolls eyes*
probably 80% of the things paid for in this country are things we don't "need"
I agree that show's these days are crap (on cable and free TV)
Kudos to you for not buying into all the TV propaganda. It's such a waste of a life. I'd rather be out living, than watch other live through a box!

Well unfortunately, it's not the norm. However I think it's great. I don't have cable for a couple of reasons. First of all, I think it's a load of crap to spend sometime over a hundred dollars to sit and watch other (sometimes fictional) people live their lives. Go live yourself already! And of course I don't think the programming is really a positive influence on me or my family. I'm not altogether off the radar though. I do have an antenna which allows me to get NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX for any news or if I want to catch a CSI episode. I also get PBS for my toddler. (How else am I going to get the laundry done?) Mostly however, I listen to the radio. NPR is considered a geek station, but you'll learn a lot more about what's actually going on in the world and without all those commercials I can make it through the cereal aisle without my kid whining about wanting the Disney themed cereal.

I couldnt agree with u more. I HATE TV!! The only reason why i do watch it sometimes is either 1. I am VERY BORED or 2. bcz my husband insists i sit down and watch TV with him. I wish we didnt even have cable in the house to be honest. I watch maybeeeeeeeeeee 2 hours of TV a week. MAX! So no, your not weird, i know alot of ppl who feel and think the same way you and I do.

I agree. I don't have cable but I do watch some tv. The selection is getting worse though. I kind of miss cable for that reason but I am glad that we don't have it because we would all be in front of the tv fighting to see who gets to watch what. I am guilty of letting my little one watch too much tv. He is six so mostly he watches PBS or a disney movies but I still regret it. I think it is great that you don't watch it.

Nope, not weird at all:) I don't like TV, either. I hate the commercials and most of all, I hate most of the shows. Nothing but reality TV these days. I've a word for it, but it's not polite to say. I don't have cable and if I like a show, I wait for it to come out on DVD. That way, I can watch it at my leisure and there's no commercials.

I don't think its weird. Though if you have a family with a bunch of children, than having cable is a good idea. There are variety of cartoon and education channels that your children can watch.
As for yourself, unless you've a lot of time to watch TV, its better not to have cable. I mean why waste the money.. right?

Who cares what people think! Unlike a lot of people, I had my cable disconnected for failure to watch it!
I try to spend most of my free time hiking in the mountains so I understand the need for NO cable.

Nah, I don't have cable, either. I don't watch any TV at all. I know there are some quality shows, but work life and personal life make me prioritize and TV is the first to go.
