_Here is my take on the current political situation in this country:

Democrats are about 35% beholden to corporations and the rich elite, which makes them about 35% corrupt.

Republicans are about 65% beholden to corporations and the rich elite, which makes them about 65% corrupt.

For now, there is not other political party of consequence. While it is a very appealing concept to have other strong and legitimate political parties within the American political system, at this time, any vote for a third party is a vote that is wasted ... and this in not the time to waste votes.

The 35% corruption within the Democratic party is inexcusable ... in any other day or time, they should be unceremoniously booted out of office in disgrace. However, compared to the Republicans, Democrats look like saints.
For those of us who make less than $300,000 a year ... if we put our faith in the Republican party, we are going to get screwed. For the Republicans, American is not a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people ... it is of, by, and for them, the corporations and the rich ruling elite. With the Democrats, I figure the people at least have a fighting chance, with the Republicans ... all hope is lost.

There are Democrats - somewhat corrupt, there are Republicans - mostly corrupt, and there is yet another entity called the Administration of George W. Bush which is in an entirely different league. The Bush administration has benefited greatly from the tragedy of 9-11 and they do not wish to relinquish the current gravy train. While ignoring the recommendations of the 9-11 commission, Bush and Cheney have used 9-11 to orchestrate an entire broad, sweeping foreign and domestic policy based upon fear and greed. This policy benefits only the Republican party and the very wealthy. in that it strengthens their political hand, gives billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to their corporate sugar daddies and provides subsidies for the ruling elite. This policy, combined with the daily poison, which spews from the Republican media empire, keeps millions of American voters eating out of their hand in a perpetual state of fear, intolerance, bigotry, and misguided patriotism.

To a certain extent these methods work for the administration. They can always recruit huge numbers of unknowing or uncaring pawns from the American populace, if they chant repeatedly the time tested Republican mantras:

"You are in great danger and we are your protectors"
"We are the ones who are patriotic, anyone who questions us is not patriotic"
"We are the party of family values, all others are immoral"
"We are the party of christian belief, all others are heathen"
"Liberals want to take away your guns"
"Liberals want your children to be recruited by gays and lesbians"
"Liberals want to give all of your tax money to lazy unemployed bums"
"It's OK for the wealthy and corporations to make huge profits while you struggle daily, they supply you with your jobs"

And these mantras work on the very same people they often exploit ... common wage earners who are anything but rich, but who vote to keep Wall Street humming and growing.

The last thing the Bush administration wants is people thinking for themselves ... standing up and asking questions ... voicing discontent with current policy, organizing and becoming active in their government. It is much better for the administration to isolate and divide usand keep us in ignorance and fear. In this way they control us. If the people of this country were to organize on like-minded issues, they would have a utterly huge say in the government that affects their daily lives.

Here is a very important link that would put a fire under both the Democrats and Republicans: http://www.unity08.com/

Futhermore, In a effort to dodge all accountabilty now and into the future, the Bush administration is in the process of morphing the Justice Department of the United States into both a governing body for both self-protection and self-service. That's self - as in them and not us. Isn't it interesting that the concepts of removing accountibility, dilution of the constitution, removal of restrictions and oversight is what would benefit the corporations and the governing elite the most ... then they can legislate policy to get even richer and more powerful with less restriction.

I strongly believe that the next presidential election will be the most important in U.S. history ... absolutely everything is on the line for all parties. No matter whether you are a Democrat or Republican or whether you agree with me or not ...You owe it to yourself and to this country to read what ever you can in order to formulate independent thoughts on the great issues facing us.

Those who are either paid to post or post on their own with heading such as "lieberals" "democraps" "Hitlery" ... people who are capable of independent thought are never going away and relinquishing this country to the likes of you. We will always be there in your face.

If you believe Democracy is a hoax, I would invite you to live in a country ruled by a dictator or a socialist republic. The US is actually a Representative Republic, not a Democracy. Your apathy is a good reason why I prefer you not take the time to cast your vote - it's obvious that you would not take the time to make an informed decision.

I think that anyone who is elected needs to work within the framework of a gargantuan government bureaucracy which makes any real changes difficult.

However, elections do change things. Presidents get to appoint Justices to the Supreme Court, which affects how our laws are interpreted for years to come. And, they determine our foreign relations, and our domestic policies (again, within the framework, and affectiveness depends on how much Presidents and Congress work together).

Voting always matters. No excuses. Just vote.

As long as only 50% of people vote, the voters will never have power. If all the disaffected people got involved and actually voted to change things, things would change.

Both... The two major political parties in this country are the two cheeks of the same a**. If you strip away there facade, both of them appear to be more alike and of course they're both puppets of Corporate America.
