In other countries even a smaller large amount of drugs will get you hung or beheaded. America just isn't that primitive. We shouldn't have to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for execution when it comes to murder and such but the drug thing isn't even close besides, we have to keep Bubba happy while he's in prison so we need to send him lots of drug trafficking boyfriends.

No.

Capital punishment degrades society. It is abhorrent.

- How can we say killing is wrong and then allow our institutions the power to end people's lives?

- What if someone is wrongly found guilty? No turning back. Ooooops! No turning back. (Just look at the case of Jean Charles de Menezes... oh dear he was totally innocent)

- Also (this is a more philosophical point)... we don't actually KNOW for sure that death is a punishment.

Execution is ill-advised and lazy.

And to all those who object to the costs involved in maintaining humane prisons - unlucky... protecting society and preserving moral values doesn't come for free and frankly I feel it's a price worth paying.

No, we should look deep into their childhood and figure out why they hate us so much that they will sell us drugs, and then we need to look at ourselves and figure out why we buy drugs, and then we should begin a program called "Keep Kids Drug Free" and fund it with a new tax on cable TV installation, and hire various experts to explore the effect of racism (hillary can chair this) and poverty (edwards) and global warming (oh, pleeeeeze be available, al gore!) on children taking drugs.

And we should give the drug smugglers automatic citizenship and a house and a monthly stipend, since they are really only trying to escape the poverty in their country.

The people they killed? Well, they probably were hypocritcal Christian right wing Republicans anyway, so who cares about THEM???

I will give you credit just for asking.
That means you are frustrated, you are thinking that the status quo is inadequate and you are questioning the benefit of all the existing procedures.
As citizens, we cannot amend ,edit nor delete useless rules coming from outdated laws.
As citizens, we can only push the politicians to do this.
Execution for the poorest bottom ranking persons of this industry may be the extreme.
Maybe something more appropriate will be proposed.

While the death penalty is supposed to discourage extreme crime, it clearly does not, at least not here in this country. Although we are tempted to shout "YES" at the top of our lungs, it would just be another vehicle to tie up the courts with appeal after appeal and cost tax payers millions of dollars to defend and argue those appeals. By the time prisoners are executed, memories have faded, anger has subsided and society has moved on to fresher headlines. I say "no" to execution, waste of time, money and energy.

no...that punishment doesn't fit the crime.

it isn't a capital offense nor should it be.
I think 25 - life is sufficient.

most of the people taking the drugs over the border are just mules... they aren't the big fish.

No, we would have not drug problem if we would legalize some of them and make people responsible for their own action.

How about we execute the pedofiles first, as they do real damage to society.

uk seems to get away with murder. we put pedophiles back on streets, release murderers after 5years, let drugs just go through customs and all they bother about is scoring points on who can pull over the most motors without insurance tax or a drivers license.

we shoukd toughen up

It would not stop the drugs trade, it would just increase the prices of drugs and therefore the amount of money that cartels make from it.

No...if we would remove our rediculous, failing drug laws, as well as end this ignorant war on drugs, the drugs wouldn't be in the hands of criminals...they would be regulated.

EDIT TO ADD----

People are going to do drugs regardless as to the legality of them. If they are legal, they will take them off of the black market.
