to me it is helping people with their problems and giving them tips to make it better. it has also made me more confident, as before i was too nervous to give others my opinions.

Yahoo Answers gives me an opportunity to read and respond to people who honestly have issues. It also affords me the chance to meet new people. I believe I have been blessed to have lived in many places, experienced many things, extensive reading and wisdom and inside information from the Spirit of the Lord - all combined enabling me to try to give good information to people who ask.
I don't often ask questions because I often forget to go back after a couple of days and pick a 'Best Answer". Additionally, before I 'ask' a question, I always check : search for answers - to see if the question I am asking has already been asked - I don't think many people take the time to do that. If they did - there would not be so many of the same in the archives.
Overall, I enjoy being enlightened by others and offering advise. I also use this platform to obtain journal writing ideas for my 8th grade students.

A place to learn what I know. If that makes any sense. I love coming across questions and being surprised that I know the answer. Also a good feeling to be able to help some anonymous person, if I can.
Snarky meaningless answers are fun too.
Also a place to get violation notices (a sense of humor goes a long way in life!)

To me, it's a place to practice typing. I'm teaching myself the Dvorak keyboard and I need the practice. Besides that, it's a place to present my deepest personal dilemmas to every ignoramus that uses this site, and get misinformation and bad advice from idiots.
