One of the best power hitting second baseman to ever play the game with 358 homeruns to date. Career .289 batting average, OBP .356, SLG .503, and OPS .859 are all good enough for consideration. I don't see him going in on the first ballot but I do believe he will get there at some point in time.

Look up past hall of famers. If you do youll realize that hes on top when it comes to offense. Defense is not his forte but hes not a horrible defensive player. I think Kent is the last of a dying breed cause you just dont see second basemen like him anymore. Hey if Ozzie Smith is in there why can Kent be in there.

Well coming from a giants fan this is really good to say. No!! Ahahah. The only thing that he has done was be the most powerful second baseman in MLB history. He has never been a known named player like Sandberg. He has never been the face of a franchise. Usually players like Kent, even though he is good, is a traveling player. He has played for many many teams and that right there takes away his HOF potential.

I admit he is a good player and will probably get the consideration, but other than that, he won't make it in

I think he will get on the ballet, but no farther. He is a career .289 hitter which is average. He has 358 homeruns and 1431 RBI. That is above average. Those are almost Hall of Fame numbers but not quite. I think the borderline numbers for a Hall of Famer are: .290 average, 400 homeruns, and 1500 RBI. (for hitters) If the hitter is exceptional in another category then he could gain consideration.

I haven't seen him play long enough to answer this correctly, I have only know him as a Dodger. But all the announcers in Los Angeles and where ever else the Dodgers play, announce him as "future HOFer" Jeff Kent.

I've never been a big Jeff Kent fan, always seems so freakin' surly, and his ego is almost as big as Bonds. But I think he should make the hall. His numbers are terrific, his defense has always been adequate, and he's never been anything but an asset to whichever team he's with. As second basemen go, his numbers rank him near the top, so yes, I would vote for him.

On a first ballot, no. But he is a hall of famer. Among 2nd basemen, he is at the top of a lot of batting categories. He was not a bad fielder and despite his rather negative personality he was not a negative on the game.
Having said that, the writers have to think of him as a hall potential, so he'd better get gussied up and start courting them.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I say yes he is. When you compare him to all other second baseman, he ranks up there with all of them. His HR and RBI numbers are good for any position, but great for 2B. He also has a MVP to his name, which helps a lot. I don't think he will get in on his first year, but will get in eventually.

I think he is. The reason I think so its because he plays 2nd base and not a lot of 2nd baseman have put up those kinds of numbers offensively.

No. He was never anything spectacular offensively, and his defense was average to good, with a couple great years. Not enough.
