It is a minority of people who press the report button. And YA apparently never investigates anything; they just send a violation notice. I hate it too.

When I received a violation, the "asker" had asked many bizarre, inappropriate questions. He then asked, "why can't psychiatrists give a diagnosis?" Then he added other things to the question that were inappropriate. I answered that based on his other questions I could probably give him a diagnosis. When I received the violation I went back to check on his other questions. They had all been removed by YA. So YA thought this guy was so inappropriate that they removed his questions but took his reporting as valid !!! And yes I am sure that it was he that reported me because other people answered with answers worse than mine.

The only rule I can think that I "supposedly" violated was that it was not in response to the question, but actually it was.

Another thing I can't figure out is that someone will write a question like: "Don't you like to torture puppies?" and someone will answer with: "You are a useless human being who should die" and the response is what gets the violation. That happened to someone on here. I couldn't believe it.

Ignore the bad on here and just enjoy the good. You are welcome here.

I guess I am fortunate. I have not received any violation notices. I am guessing that is because I try to follow and maintain the rules that have been posted as our guidelines. I don't try to insult people. I don't call people names. I don't use profanity. And I genuinely try to help people.

In your case, you state the you KNOW you have not violated any rules - perhaps not - but make sure that you read the guidelines.

I have found being more discouraged at reading responses from people who are mean-spirited towards one another. Even if question is silly or obnoxious - if you don't really have anything good or wise to offer, find another category and question. I just don't like to see people being mean to one another. There is enough meanness in the world to last a lifetime. Life is so short - and all we have been asked to do is show love toward one another - and people find that so difficult to do. Oh well....

It wouldn't be so bad if one; they would tell you what you got the violation for, or two; if when they do tell you it made a little more sense.
I got a violation notice and a question deleted for "trying to convince other users of something." Well, excuse me!! If they deleted all those questions off there would only be half as much to read. I think yahoo_answers_jane has control issues.

Yes I do and yes it does. It doesn't seem to bother the one shot wonders though. Next time you see an obvious flagrant violation check to see how long this person has been on "Answers." It's usually one day.

Only when my violations are given to me because I am telling off someone who wrote an inappropriate question or comment. I never use inappropriate language in my own postings.

it is the people that are pressing the report button. There are so many people that do not like the avatar games so they have to me fools and try to get rid of them. Instead of moving to the next question they have to ruin it for the ones that like playing them. They are very selfish. Yahoo is not checking each question, they check when we hit report. Someone or many someone's really need to get a life.

I just consider the source they ask for your opinion but they
want you to be on their side of the issue. You keep right on
saying what you believe and if you disagree with the notice
you reply and state your case.
