Is there any way of getting breakdown recovery/roadside assistance on a car older than 10 years.

Mine is 5 years old but I'm thinking to the future... as it's a classy golf which is reliable... and it's £12,000 new cost is like only £1,000 a year when spread over 12 years (not a whack of depreciation if you keep with a car in your ownership for a while)... with probably something back when I sell it.

Well i don't know where you got that information from. We are we the RAC and they don't have a limit- my daughter has a car over 25years old and she is in that- same with my sons van. You have been seriously misinformed somewhere along the line.

keep it twenty more years then sell it a t five fold the new( 12,000) recovery firm will rush on you!

It make me think of my old Wolsey 15/50 I bought for 3,500 some forty years ago. then left it under a tree ( for hens to lay eggs) I got an offer at 75.000 some days age. i thought the chap was mad. i told him politely -not for sale. he returned again and offered 150, 000 there as a notary public this time with him.
I thought he must be serious ,i said " last price is 300, 000 take it or let it.
he took it !

Well, I use AutoNational Rescue and my car is over 10 years old - I have two cars covered and FULL recovery etc is only £98 for both.

AA RAC - Rubbish - too expensive and let you down to often.

I'm not sure exactly what their policy is, but before my current car (7 yeears old) I had a golf which was 12 years old, a before that a 14 year old Fiesta! (with the RAC)

The AA has twice been out to fix the wifes battered old 1990 Ford Escort, So I'd say theres no age limit.

I bloody hope not. I don't have a car under fifteen years of age. Try Brittania Rescue.

My 20yr old Peugeot 205 is still covered by Britannia Rescue, but they do insist that it is serviced regularly (enforced by asking you when they come and get you).
