just wait!! you forgot 1 name. You forgot the '03 US OPEN champion. You are forgetting Andy Roddick. I think he's got a strong case to win the US OPEN. He's the 2 time defending US OPEN series champion. This series gathers all your results in US hard court tournaments leading to the US Open. Remember that Federer hasn't won a hard court tournament since January in the Australian Open. Roddick hasn't won a title either on hard courts but has been more consistent. Roddick will have home court advantage. Federer has shown weakness at times. Murray is still recuperating from his injury. Djokovic isn't ready. Nadal hasn't gotten to that level yet on the hard courts. Blake is inconsistent.
Federer or Roddick will win depending on the draw......
For the women it could be Sharapova,Henin or 1 of the Williams' sisters
Thanks for question and GOD BLESS...!!

For men, my favs are:
1.) Federer - Has to be. Defending champion and numero uno.
2.) Nadal - Would be fav had he won Wimby. But he is still close to being the fav.
3.) Djokovic- He will only get better, and rain won't make him stay out 4-5 straight days.
4.) Roddick- Feels like he should be 3rd, but Wimby loss to Gasquet dethroned him of his "fav besides Federer/Nadal" award.
5.) Hewitt- New coach is probably sign of run back to top 5, and he plays well here.
6.) Andy Murray- Probably will have a strong tourney but won't beat anyone above.
7.) Gonzales- He's a sort of wildcard. He could go out 3rd round or could go to the semis.
8.) Youzhny- Man can play on this surface. His quick movement and hard strokes can get him far again.
9.) Gasquet- Win over Roddick at Wimb may be sign of a big and surprising Summer.
10.) Berdych- Has to have a Slam breakout SOMEtime, right?

Roddick always has a strong hard court season so he's as viable as anyone not named Roger and would be my pick as #1 contender behind Federer.
Nadal SHOULD be a contender and maybe this year he'll break through, but his hard court track record isn't supportive.
Blake has the tools but may not quite yet have the confidence.
Djokovic would be a joy to watch break through as well as Baghdatis but...
The smart money goes on Roger Federer.

Federer for the guys and Venus Williams for the women. As long as Henin or Nadal don't win, I will be happy.

Well we all know who is going to win the mens singles, of course Roger Federer. But for the women it really comes down to anyone in the top 10 or even 20. My pick would probably be one of the Williams sisters.

Federer, the way he is playing is unstoppable, unless he gets injured or something else. If not I hope Nadal wins.
