The Perseid meteor shower will happen around August 12/13. I saw an article that it will be very good this year.

But the most exciting things are the ones that are not anticipated. I once saw a home movie someone made on a camping trip of a meteor grazing the earth's atmosphere and sailing back into space. Now that would be exciting to see!

Mars will not pass close to Earth this August. That happened in 2003.

There will be an eclipse of the Moon just before Dawn (in the United States) on the morning of August 28.
