Keep in mind that everything you eat, drink , or smoke goes to your baby too. When you smoke while pregnant you lessen the oxygen supply to your baby. This habit can lead to low birth weight, asthma, etc. I smoked for the 1st month (before I knew I was pregnant). I thought "God! At a time when my nerves are bad how can I possibly quit"! Well, ween yourself off. I cut back to 2 a day. Then 1 a day. Now , a month later, I no longer smoke. Not to say that I don't miss it. But consider your pregnancy the healthiest time of your life. You will hit a pooint where you will feel so guilty for smoking.
As for foods to avoid: shellfish (you can eat fish in moderation), sushi, lunch meat (unless it is heated), greasy or salty foods. I was told not to eat hot dogs. However, I crave them now. I limit it to once a week & I tell the drive thru please heat it thouroughly.

They say it's like the babies smoking. It is taking oxygen away from the baby and there for the baby can not have as much oxygen for any kind of developing. That is why smokers babies are usually smaller in size. If anyone loves there baby they would not smoke when pregnant or around there baby. I can't stand to see a smoking pregnant mother. That takes mother out of the whole sentence. Mother means love! Good luck and hope you are not!

Smoking restricts the blood vessels to the placenta, causing a lack of oxygen to the baby, which can lead to low birth-weight, and it is also known to cause learning problems. My mom smoked with all 4 of us kids and we all have ADD.
As far as foods that you cannot eat: Soft cheeses, such as blue-veined cheese, Feta, Brie, smoked fish (Canned smoked fish is safe). Any dairy. or juice that has not been pasteurized. These can cause listeria, which has little or no symptoms, but can be deadly for the baby. . ALSO, caffeine, in moderation is FINE. 2-3, 8 oz cups of coffee (Not espresso) is a safe amount of caffeine when pregnant.

Well smoking can cause a low birth weight and also studies have been done that suggest it can cause hyper children ( not sure if its totally true though) If you smoke make sure to tell your doc as they can help you find some ways to quit or if you dont want to quit then they at least need to know so they can care for you and the baby properly. As far as foods go they suggest you stay away from fish with high mercury content such as canned tuna, swordfish and ect. and alot of caffiene and high fatty foods

Smoking does most of the things to an unborn child that it does to the mom. It raises the babies heart rate and puts carbon monoxide in its tiny body. This can hurt the baby's brain development and stress the baby's heart.
Don't eat foods that contribute to morning sickness or heartburn. You'll know what they are just by thinking about them... If you want to avoid gaining too much weight for both you and your baby try to avoid fast food.
Eat healthy foods and take your vitamins. Good luck!!!!!!

My Mom smoked when she was pregnant with me. I'll give you some of the health problems that she gave me due to her selfishness
1.I was born without a tear duct for my right eye, so I had to have surgery at a very young age.
2.I have a case of asthma that has lasted me for all of my life.
3.My immune system is still to this very day not as great as a normal person's (I was in and out of the hospital during all of my childhood years and eventually I had to do homeschool because I was basically living in the hospital due to health problems..)
And lastly, I was born four weeks premature because my Mom was selfish and couldn't stop smoking when she was pregnant with me.

Smoking can really damage your baby and it's growth. You better quit as soon as possible. You shouldn't eat foods that will harm growth. Get into eating healthy such as salads, fruit, healthy foods. Avoid junk food. That's a fact. I hope this has helped you!

smoke destroys vitamin c & is very ageing, amongst other things.
you wouldnt want your baby to have breathing problems or look like an old person at birth would you?
why would you want to do that
love yourself and your baby to stop
i read where a doctor blames vitamin c deficiency for SIDS
also do not eat yeast bread (it confuses the brain & can cause gender problems etc in babies, search yeast infection) no, no
coffee, red colored cordial, corn, canola, gmo foods, beef, homogenised milk, microwave foods, marg, white sugar/ flour/ rice, soy, pasta, synthetic vitamins, chemical products and avoid animals too.
Get on the good stuff-
Spirulina, barley & wheat grass, bee pollen & organic honey, fruit, vegie, salads, salmon, organic chicken, goats milk , cooked oats, barley etc raw nuts, pumpkin seeds, dandelion coffee, brown rice, sardines etc
sunflower seeds, raw carrots & organic honey are satisfying, you may not even want to smoke after these, (but not together!)
cod liver oil makes you & your baby beautiful,
red raspberry herbal tea makes an easy birth and helps to tone up all the organs after birth, 1-2 cups per day in pregnancy.
Olive leaf tea or extract will protect you and the baby from parasites, bacteria, infections & viruses.
dont overfeed him as it risks croup & excess weight & ugliness
make sure you keep happy and positive, be how you want your baby to be all his life.
babies can hear everything that said and going on so never allow bad words to be spoken about you or your partner, then your child will always love & respect you.
avoid color 150 and colas, this can mutate dna, which can cause ugliness etc
protect your dna with sardines & bee pollen with organic honey.
sufficient vitamin e & zinc foods makes a beautiful baby as well as endowing a boy with balanced sized 'private bits' he will appreciate this when hes older.
dried apricots have iron
if your lips are thin, you can fatten them up, avoid stress, anger & accidents by having vitamin B foods like brown rice, barley malt & molasses.

all the efforts of anti-smoking groups show that smoking ain't good for your health, so, it ain't good for your baby. all you gotta do it quit for 40 weeks. then not smoke around it when it's born. as far as eating, just make sure you are eating healthy foods and taking prenatal vitamins, they're good for both u and the baby. as far as what not to eat, the baby will let you know what you cant eat....in the form of nausea and puking!!!

Smoking - You should try to cut back if you can, I smoked throughout my pregnancies (18 weeks with #3) With this one I have cut back because the daddy wanted me to, but I still smoke, the doctor told me that was good. Some studies show that quiting puts more stress on the baby than cutting back.
As for foods, talk to your doctor, but stay away from fish with murcury in them.
