When I was young about five, I had a pal the same age as me, in fact, a day older. He would often talk about the crying boy with no legs who ran up and down his hall outside of his bedroom crying. It always baffled me how he could run with no legs. my pal being a kid, couldn' explain what he meant. As we got older he would still mention the running crying boy. Sometimes he would see him by peeking through the door. Other times, he just stayed in bed. When he was older and wiser, he mentioned how the boy appeared to be running on a floor lower than his, as it was the body and only part of the legs that could be seen. The sightings became less regular in time. Eventually, the father died and all the kids moved on. As it was a big house, the mother gave it up and went to a care home. A new family moved in but as far as I know, there was no problem. They may have but I never heard of them reporting anything and they were there a good long time. About 12 years ago a new family moved in. They immediately began to experience the crying boy running in the hall. I found out because I was watching tv and the 6 pm news was on. There was my pals house, so I listened to the story. I must admit, myself and all the other kids just thought he was messing with us. I don't know how the BBC found out unless the new people told them but they did some research. They discovered that in the 17th century a barn had stood on the exact spot where the house stood. A little orphan boy worked on the farm and was allowed to sleep up the stairs in the hay at the top of the barn. One night the barn caught fire and the little boy could not escape. He was running on a floor that was a foot or so lower than the house floor, desperately trying to escape. I have never seen my pal for many years and often wonder if he saw his old home on the news.
