There's really no saying, because he might have not found that particular piece of driftwood.

But I always thought to myself - they should have taken turns being on top of the driftwood and being in the water. Then he probably would have lived!

Its possible, but kal would have just shot him when the boat was in the water. By the way, that movie makes me cry every time.

i dont think so. i think the point was that she went on and made a life for herself independent of anyone. but if i was him i woulda been up on that wooden door with her, somehow!
