People often get confused by this. They think that the more money or material things they have, the more successful they are. Sadly, this is how society measures it. I was always taught by my family that success is not how powerful or how rich you are, but how happy you are. I think that is the best measure because I can look at my life each day and know that I have been successful because I am happy and content and satisfied doing what I love instead of working my fingers to the bone to keep up with "The Jones' "

That is an individual measure depending on both the person and what they are trying to do. The person has to measure success in small degrees to make sure that they do not get depressed. Sometimes the people that have the hardest time in the world, measure success in too grandiose terms. If I want to lose weight and have a 50 pound target, I can't wait until I reach the 50 pounds to measure success or I never will make it. But putting each pound as an accomplishment is easier to attain and encourages continued progress.

I break success up into 3 categories:
Financial - people can say they hate money all day long but tomorrow i still have to set the alarm at 6 am... thats not a bad thing it is just a reality. working 40-50 hours a week is more time then most spend with there families or leisure activities. i dont see money as most see it. Almost everyone i know has some sort of job where they give part of there life for money. 20-30 years worth. my time is the most valuable commodity on this planet, to me. Financial success is just having more time to do the things you are passionate about and take care of the ones you love not just family but people in need.
Spiritual - there are emotional and spiritual demands ingrained in us that force us to make sense of our existance. i am a christain.. with out these principles and morals whole cultures would be empty. If you are not christian no worries just insert something else in that space. i still love you. Spiritual success lets you know where you are going and an understanding of the path that will get you there. walking that path is success.
Social - relationships are my favorite measures of success. having friends that you respect, love you. if you fall you dont hit the ground because all your friends are there to catch you. but they allow you to walk because they are moving in the same direction. forward. Families that have no blood relation. these are the kinds of friendships that fill my social success tank.
I measure my self constantly in these 3 areas and thats part of what i consider success to be... true success is a progressive realization of a worthwhile dream.
wow.. that was a long ramble... i apologize to all who read to its full extent.. :-)

Success cannot be measured because to everyone is different. In that vein of thought, to some people a successful day could be just spending a day where they have resolved a serious with family, but in that case you could never compare it with other instances. When a person lives another day, then that is success to them.

Success is attaining what you desire in life. It is achieving what you set as a goal. It is reaping the fruits out of the seed you sow. Measuring your success depends on every individual. The success to me might not be a success to anyone. Unless otherwise success is given a benchmark.

Success is setting a goal and achieving it. Measurement is simply determining whether you accomplished what you set out to do. The harder question is are you setting your goals or are you following someone elses expectation of success?

That you're happy and you fulfill the wants and needs that you wished.
One many may think success is making a million dollas a day, another may think that traveling all over the world alone is successful.
To me being successful means raising my children right, reaminig close to family and friends with a comfortable lifestyle (financially).

Success is basically, for me, how much better you are today than you were yesterday. I measure it in terms of how nice a person you are... whether the goals that really matter in the end are achieved.

Success is fulfilling your personal goals and desires. If you always dreamed of being a waiter and you are a good one.......you're successful. If you dreamed of being a neurosurgeon, and you are one......you're successful. Now, all the trimmings, such as family, friends, and "doing unto others as you want them to do unto you", added to this ball of string makes for complete success.
