Why do web designers forgo Macintosh for Windows?

Well not all of them do, there are many designers that use Macs. However, even if they do use a Mac to develop a site they had better have access to a Windows machine to TEST the design.

Windows is still the majority of internet users and computers so design for the masses has to take priority for any web designer. If the design works well in both Mac and Windows then it is correct.. if it only works on Mac then that is pure bad design. Same with those who use Windows.. they need to check the design in Mac to be sure it works.

The real answer is that Windows just has a larger population of users.

Lowest Common Denominator, it is however a shame seeing as how I have to spend so much time 'hobbling' websites so that they can be viewed correctly in internet explorer which just doesn't work properly.

I can't remember what the actual cost was but when IE7 was released it cost companies (globally) millions of dollars to have their websites fixed. even thought there was nothing actually wrong with them.

Sooner Safari takes over as the No1 browser the better.

well mostly coz its windows runs windows server to launch the site or linux so mac dont realy get much of a lookin and not just that since it is main os just makes things easier altho most video and graphics for web are done on macs since there lot better at it

because people believe Mac is better when it comes to design and to graphic. I don't think its, I think its as soon as windows, the reason I use windows and always will is I don't have to worry if any software is going to work with my OS or not if you get what I mean.

Macs (Ibook) Are specifially designed for multimedia users such as artists, movie makers, wtever. The interface and progs available are apparently easier to use and more power and effective
