You might start out with good intentions, but if you could get whatever you wanted with your magic ring, would the power corrupt you?

It is quite likely that if I have unlimited power at my disposal I might get carried away a little, but I am sure I would eventually get round the problem. But that eventuality might be already too late, so I would like to invest a little more thinking into this matter.

What is power? And what are the restrictions that I experience when I have only, limited power? I stand upon earth with power, that is my weight that pushes me downwards making me stand solidly upon the surface of things, and then restriction is the solid earth beneath that supports me upwards. Now if I have unlimited power, or in this particular instance, unlimited magnitude of weight then the restriction purported by the earth’s surface will eventually give way and I will start to sink into earth as I would into a lake.

If I have endless power, or a ring of power, then the first thing that I will loose is my desire then my wishes and then dreams, but before all this would happen, I might be able to do just one thing, experience just one thing, and that is a sense of unique wonder that what on earth I could ask for first when I have to choose among countless things.

[edit] If then you realise most honestly the significance of your own question then this is what it is – the choices we make in life, and the decisions we take everyday. Are they easy to make or to take? How much power of intellect and will one needs to make right decisions in life? And does indecision and procrastination always keep in loops, or circular thought, over and over again, just like your ring of power.

The power of the ring corrupts anyone that it can. I'm not strong enough to fight it so in the end I'd be just as corrupted as the ring wanted me to be.

The Ring of Power seduces everyone. It's not just that people want the power itself. The ring is actually pulling them to the "dark side". That's one of it's magic abilities.

I'm already slightly corropt.... so I'd use it to kill all the people I didnt like, like corrupt polititians, poachers, and people who dont care about others.
So I'd be half good half evil. I'd be really nasty to the poeple I thought deserve it but I'd try not to kill any innocent people.
I dont think it would corrupt me completely... but maybe most of me...
