What is the best method for treating light green mold spots on the trunk of my Leland Cypress Trees?

I did spray the trees with an Ortho product designed to remove mildew spots, but the spots are still there.

The spots are not mold, they are lichen a harmless organism common on bark of older trees.

Are you sure they are mildew spots? they could be a naturally-forming lichen that will not harm the tree. I would leave it alone if the tree is healthy. What you try to do to eradicate it is not necessary and will possibly harm the tree itself.

yes, it does sound like lichen. not a problem.
