Old rechargable batteries used to have something called battery memory where if you didn't drain it all the way or didn't charge it all the way, it lost capacity. Modern Lithium batteries basically have solved that problem. In other words, don't worry about it. Some people would however recommend keeping it plugged in because the battery does keep track of how often it gets charged. The batteries will quit working before they NEED to quit working. Imagine that your battery will instantly quit working after it's been charged 400 times. What would you do? I made up that number, but it will eventually quit letting you charge it. It should last a couple years with average use.
As was already stated, don't let your battery stay dead too long either.

Personally I believe that it is always better to de-charge the rechargeable batteries, but with a lap top its a tricky situation, if you keep letting the batteries go flat then it wont do the computer any good, but if you keep the batteries with a bit of charge in then it wont to the battery any good, this is a fine example of catch 22
personally I think its cheaper to buy a new battery than it is a new computer, so I would go with leave a bit of charge in the battery just to be on the safe side.
Hope this helps :-)

What I know about rechargeable batteries is that it is better to use it until it is fully discharged, then only recharge, to increase battery lifespan. Manufacturers may claim that modern generation batteries can be recharged at any state of the battery's charge, but sooner or later, the batteries lifespan will reduce. Also, never leave a discharged battery in a discharged state for too long. Once discharged, it is recommended to recharge the battery as soon as possible. So, always leave it charged.

If they are the type of batteries that have a memory then let it go all the way down.
