I am auditioning for High School Musical and am looking for a song to audition with that will show off my range. I am a low alto (female) who is 20 years old. Usually I would do something to make me sound older, but I am auditioning for the part of teens between 15-17. Any songs would be helpful possibly with links to where I can get the sheet music from. Thank you in advance :-)

Which character were you auditioning for? Any of these can be sung teen-ish. These are all musical theatre songs, but being a Disney show and based on more pop stuff, you can probably get away with doing songs from those genres as well.

If you're going for Sharpay (just camp them up of course :-) ):

I Want To Go To Hollywood - Grand Hotel
Go Into Your Dance - 42nd Street
Amazing Mayzie - Seussical
When You Got It Flaunt It - Producers
When I Get My Name In Lights - The Boy From Oz

Gabriella:
Waiting For Life - Once On This Island
Not For The Life of Me - Thoroughly Modern Millie
Astonishing - Little Women
I'm Not Afraid of Anything - Song For A New World
It Might As Well Be Spring – State Fair
Ribbons Down My Back – Hello Dolly

When I tried out for High School Musical, I was shooting for Sharpay, so I picked a song that I thought Sharpay might sing at an audition. I sang "I Enjoy Being a Girl" from Flower Drum Song. The audition went really well, and I could tell that the director liked how I got into character mode. In the end, I got the role of Taylor, which turned out to be awesome. Figure out which character you want to go for and then pick something that would complement their character. If you want to be Gabriella a good song choice could be "Tell Me on a Sunday" or "Tonight." See what I mean?

Oooh. I'm in High School Musical right now! You're doing the theatre version, correct? Not the regular Disney one? Well...I'm playing the part of Cyndra. (She has a bigger part in the theatre version, which I am happy about) It's not a lead or anything, but I'm pleased. Anyway, for my audition I sang "When There Was Me And You". This is Gabriella's solo song. You can look up "High School Musical Lyrics" on Yahoo! and many sites come up. Then click a site you like and find whichever song.. I recommend buying the soundtrack. You can purchase it at Target!
Good luck!
