they are fairly biased, wouldn't you say.. and the fairness doctrine or whatever they call it, would make Rush have equal time for dissenting opinions.. lame radio though.

No.

Hey, the dems have tried but nobody listens. They have tried radio several times, but they never really get an audience.

This fairness doctrine is lame. It is just one more step the dems have taken to make America more and more like a communist nation. They want to make everything equal because they can't attain the popularity that Rush has.

I wonder what they would be saying if the dems had a popular radio show and Rush was trying to bring to the table a fairness doctrine...of course, if would never happen because conservatives like to work for something and not have it handed to them.

You have received two very good answers and what is even more surprising is they are from opposite sides and yet they are saying the same thing. The so-called Fairness Doctrine is just a way to limit free speech. The Democrats would like to do this because they do not want the public to hear opinions opposed to their own. Unfortunately for the democrats their own radio station, the one that tried so hard to convince us it was the only station that mattered, the one that truly represented the mainstream, that liberal Air America has gone belly-up. I never turned it on and so cannot tell you why it did not succeed. If you have ever listened to Rush, Sean or O'Riley than you know they encourage their liberal listeners to call in. They try to get these folks to not only give their opinions but to give the reasons they hold those opinions. It is very entertaining and sometimes they actually have a point. For me I choose free speech and if I don't agree with you I can turn you off.

The "Fairness Doctrine"...... is merely a politically correct term designed to hide the true intent of this destroyer of conservative free speech.
The architects of this Hitlerian bill are trying to take away the population's ability to choose what they wish to hear, because it conflicts with their agenda.
Soon, they will start calling it "hate speech" and try to get it removed completely.

This would be very bad for America, brought to you by people that would eventually create a totalitarian country, the Radical Leftist Liberals.

Lets see how this would work with the big 3 news and the left leaning cable news as well.

But wait! we can't because the big 3 and cable agree with the liberals.

Keep wishing and maybe soon you will live in the USSR or with Chaves in Venezuela, then you will know free speech NOT.

And keep in mind NPR would have to have Conservatives on.

So be careful what you wish for this goes both ways.

Actually, I find right-wing conservative radio to be pretty entertaining. I disagree with a lot of things they say, but, once in a blue moon, they'll bring up a very good point. I believe that everybody is entitled to their own opinion (regardless of how egregious they might be). But, this is what our nation is built on. Multiple perspectives are always better than just one perspective.

You bet. That freedom of speech stuff really sucks, doesn't it?

We should also make churches offer competing views during their services, maybe some atheists talking about how God doesn't exist, or perhaps some Santeria practitioners cutting off a few chicken heads.

Then we should make every family house a couple of soldiers just to make sure no one is harboring a terrorist.

After that we can start beating confessions out of suspects, then summarily executing them on the spot.

Good plan. I'm all for it.

No. Although I can't stand Foxnews, Rush, or any of the Conservative right-wing snappers and yappers. Our country is based on the ideal of free speech and a free press, so any idiot who wants to spout off is free to do so...a wonderful thing, don't you think? I control Rush and his ilk with a very clever device called the OFF button.

Have you ever listened to left wing radio? At least conservative radio discusses issues and doesn't just use illogical emotionally charged rants to debate topics.

No. Democrats should not stoop to the levels of lowlife conservative media darlings like Limbaugh and Coulter.
For that reason alone, it was good that AirAmerica failed.

Let the ubiquitous hate-filled conservative-biased media destroy itself. Rush Limbaugh's evil program is filled with bias, hatred, lies, propaganda, and bigotry. Most intelligent people can see through such manipulation, but there are a good number of 'ditto heads' who choose not to think for themselves and believe all the political Pabulum spoon-fed to them by Limbaugh.
Hitler's propaganda machines did the same thing prior to the start of World War II: convinced otherwise intelligent Germans to believe in a 'pure' race, and even persuaded millions of them to turn in their Jewish neighbors, friends and relatives. Many came to believe Hitler's hogwash that Jews, gypsies and other 'undesirables' should be gassed or otherwise disposed of; hopefully, Limbaugh's program will disintegrate before his ranting and raving bring his faithful listeners to believe that liberals - or anyone else who disagrees with Limbaugh's opinions - should be candidates for verbal abuse, injury, incarceration or murder.

What Limbaugh practices is NOT free speech (which Constitutionally affords us a balanced discourse of opinion). Limbaugh spews toxic poison that brainwashes people into accepting a certain evil doctrine without allowing for discussion or opposing viewpoints.

And, yes - objective, free-thinking people CAN turn it off. But, just as many Germans were lured into complacency by Hitler's wicked verbosity, so are many Americans addicted to Limbaugh's drug-induced madness. Limbaugh has single-handedly done more to divide this nation than perhaps any 'personality' in America's history. It's sad that he can't use his obvious persuasive talents to promote unity or encourage fair and balanced dialog wherein citizens of all races, sexual persuasions, religious beliefs, genders and political perspectives could participate freely and objectively. -RKO- 07/20/07

Its the listeners that determine his playtime. No one listens to the tripe and its another big mouth blow-hard out of a job.
