We can stop the war when we win it. Cut and run is cowardly. The military is all volunteer. They know they may get sent to war when they enlist. Freedom is worth fighting and dying for, no matter how long it takes.

We should have used a deterrent long ago. With the trouble Iran keeps giving American troops perhaps Congress and Bush should ok a Neutron bomb be dropped on Iran. That will get all the insurgents to think twice before messing with the best military on the planet.

First of all, we're not at war. Not in any legal sense of the word. But nobody seems to care about what the law or the constitution actually says, so we'll push past that.

The way to stop the occupation in Iraq is simple. Congress stops funding it. Period. Only the House can initiate a funding bill (Article I Section 7 "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives"). And if the House does not approve a funding bill, it fails. Period.

There's no veto issue -- the bill never goes to the president at all if it does not pass both the House and Senate.

So, Congress could end the occupation at any point. They could have ended it months ago with the "emergency war funding request" -- the one they tried to put the timeline into and Bush vetoed it. All they had to do is not submit a second one. Bush would have been on record as vetoing his own funding request, and the troops come come.

Congress has no guts. They have no demonstrated ability to stand up for what they claim to believe in, and to show that they are actually a co-equal branch of govt. So, we have a criminal in one branch, ineffectual lollygaggers in a second, and an inconsistent bench in the third -- hardly the type of strong govt necessary to see us through the ongoing crisis.

Which war?

Instead of leaving the decisions to a divided Congress and Senate, I say to put the vote to American people.

If the majority that votes say to keep the wars going. Do it.
If they say to end our part in the fighting, do it.

It is time for the Politicians to listen to the people who matter, and not the people who can afford to make them listen.

Try to get bush missed his flight to enlist along with his other panty wearing liberal friends and maybe they can bring the war to a quicker conclusion.

In war there really is no winning side. Everyone loses. As long as countries want what other countries have, there will always be war. Hopefully, we don't destroy ourselves in the process.

Cut your national dependency on oil. Until the nation stops relying so heavily on oil, they will have to continue the war to keep the pipelines open.
