Love is a profound feeling of tender affection for or intense attraction to another. People in love are often considered to have "good" interpersonal chemistry. Love is described as a deep, ineffable feeling shared in passionate or intimate interpersonal relationships. In different contexts, however, the word love has a variety of related but distinct meanings: in addition to romantic love, which is characterized by a mix of emotional and sexual desire, other forms include platonic love, religious love, familial love, and the more casual application of the term to anyone or anything that one considers strongly pleasurable, enjoyable, or desirable, including activities and foods.

This love need not be always between a male and female for sexual pleasure and love partner does not mean again a male and female. The love may be for very many other things and this partner is requried to share one's feeling, happiness, sadness, etc., -

Having a partner means sharing things with your partner. Human beings long for that nice feeling when you do things together, especially if you like each other. It makes you feel that you are not alone in this world.

The word "love" is (like all words) a term we invented to describe a common feeling/emotion we all agree we feel and need to express.
Since feelings/emotions do not "really" exist as a thing, rather they are brain patterns that flash on and off during our lifetimes, the only "why" we want love and need to love, is that natural selection (evolution) over billions of years, resulted in mammals for whom that "love" feeling became an absolutely necessary and desireable survival trait....
So much so, that science has determined that humans deprived of love (from infancy to death) do not survive very well, and are actually physically and mentally damaged by the lack of it...

"So let's get it on, baby...!!!

when a child starts knowing the world(people around him), the first emotion emerges from his within is that of love and thereby by the passing of time he craves something to support his within, is the love partner to share his/her feelings, bodily needs and most of all support in difficulties when loneliness may bound him.

Yeah, why are people passing around that nonsense. Do you really want a relationship to last forever. And even if you did get involved with "love." What will you do with it? How is it going to help you?
