It takes away from critical info that should be reported, in these perilous times. It also borders on the occult, mass hysteria, and diversion! If Jesus was as much promoted and told about, there would be a huge drive-by media outcry from the punk foul-ball libs and lezzies!

Hey! Hexchester 27, the public owns these airwaves, and I'll not walk away. And certainly I will not take suggestion, or advice from hollow head punks!

Jack Lewis, a lot of porno is well written, and what is more popular than the bible? The language in the bible is much more of a desciptive read, and would be great reading, if only so promoted. Anyone can say they are a christain and are not, and many are, but know it not!

For sure, this, Harry Potter, was mentioned in the National News, Robin Mead and Cnn News, every ten minutes. What's her name, Blondie, doesn't need to advertise since National news is doing it for her.
The news of a little two years old girl abducted by her mom's boy friend that was a known child abuser, the mom had the child taken away also, she's missing too, cannot be found on the news but, Harry Potter is there, like we, in the area, give a crap about. What's wrong with this Country that we adore books and forget humanity.
Books are great, I have a med degree but, how about people?

I like Harry Potter but am not a fanatic. I don't begrudge those that are though. You need to get away from it all in this day and age from time to time. Not everyone is super religious. Not every one carries a Bible around. I don't begrude those that do. It will all fade away after the last book is out.

There is one way to avoid all the commotion - don't pay any attention to it. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to read the books or watch the movies.

Nemesis - seems like you don't agree with anything that teaches values. You call him a goody goody. So you must be on the dark side yourself. There are lessons to be learned in these books.

Actually I don't believe Harry Potter news takes away from critical info... not the media where I live, anyway, because a news story is given hardly 3-4 minutes coverage... In fact, I think Harry Potter is a much more intellectual thing to become mad about and give extensive coverage than the rubbishy celebrity stuff that usually comes up in the media.

You can hardly blame the fans for something the media is responsible. If your media is paying too much attention to HP, they are to blame, for hooking on to something just because it attracts mass attention.

The media has gone a bit over the top but it is just escapism and the books are well written that is why it appeals to all ages. Only sad philistines and misguided fundies attack it if you don't like it turn of your telly and get a hobby. By the way I'm a Christian and don't think it is a big deal in fact it contains good morals about sacrifice and forgiveness etc .

You have to first understand, entertainment, and sports are big business, look at what these people are paid! The media are star struck, and driven with possessed spirits and will absorb wickedness, witches, and evil like this is the only thing that matters.

Harry Potter rocks! i mean i do agree that it is taking away from other serious issues, but the media is about giving the public what they want and at this time this is what it wants, and yeah what about the obsessiveness over sport that gets a 10 minute slot of its own!!

Are they seriously making THAT big of a deal over some goody-good punk with a wand?

THAT'S IT! * grabs pithfork and torch * Angry mob, form up.

* angry mob comes together *

TONIGHT, HOGWARTS BURNS TO THE GROUND!

* burns down Hogwarts, someone roasts marshmallows over the blazing inferno, Harry Potter dies, Captain Jack Sparrow shows up just to make a cameo appearance *

Mission accomplished.
