The Tigers have a chance to go to the playoffs and win the world series because they are one of the elite four or five teams in MLB. Let's not take that quantum leap and give them the championship just yet, it is still early and many things can happen along the way.

If they are to win the series, it will be because of their timely hitting, great rotation, and emerging bullpen. The pen was a huge worry earlier, and most of us are still concerned, but if they continue to perform the way the have for the last several weeks, the sky is the limit.
I think some of you are taking this question just a bit too literally. I believe the questioner is asking "If the Tigers were to win the series, what would be the major reasons?" Lighten the fudge up. It's Friday for crying out loud! AND, the Gambler's on the hill tonight and will bounce back strong!

1. A Superb Skipper-- Jim Leyland is as good as they come. He stands behind his ball club, shows great decision making abilities and dedication. An asset to any WS Bound team.
2. Impressive Pitching-- We have the perfect combination in our bullpen and best of all it's getting better by day. We have the impecible control, speed, youth but still have a vet (ie: Rogers) to teach newer rooks the ropes show how great D is played. Gotta love Kenny on the mound! :)
Our relievers have finally picked up their game & adding through trades has certainly strengthen this area for us. Look out when Zumaya comes back in the fall! Zoooom! And-- Jonesy is actually becoming a consistant closer--miracles do happen afterall. lol :)
2. Great Offense! We have wonderful consistant hitters, they do what is needed to get the job done and aren't selfish. Ordonez, Sheff, Polanco, Guillen, Casey, Thames (hope hes okay;( Pudge, & of course Granderson. Usually always coming through with run support to get the *W*. A great bunch of guys and I can say that bc I've met half of them. :)
3. Great Defense- The team is really gelling. They work together, play hard and always play with their heart & soul. I have the utmost confidence in Pudge behind the plate, Inge in the hot corner, Pollie & Guillen in SS/2nd & Grandy in center. Magnificant really.
4. And lastly--because we're the BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL BABY!!!! :)
GO TIGERS!

They won't. Althought Detroit has a great baseball team, they are known to fall apart the more the season comes to an end. The pressure might be too much for them. They will make the playoffs however, and givi it a good run.

One reason will be their pitching. Verlander is slowly developing into one of the best starters in the league, and they have a pretty strong supporting cast behind him. I'm not sure how long Zumaya is out for, but getting him back could be a big step.

They have a good shot at it. They are giving their pitchers run support, which is great, by Granderson and Ordonez. I still hope the Twins have a shot.
