If I am anything to go by...heres how it worked for me
1st baby-a boy...morning sickness until 3 months, top 2 cravings were, fizzy cola bottles and cheese and onion crisps.
2nd baby-a girl....very bad morning sickness until nearly 6 months. Top craving...oranges and ice lollies
3rd baby-(currently 35 weeks pregnant) A Boy.....hardly any sickness at all....cravings, pork scratchings (just dipping into a babg at the minute..lol) Cheese til it comes out of my ears!!!! Not sure if that helps at all but generally most women seem to complain of worse sickness with a girl. Ive found that the way ive carried my two different genders has given the game away for me at leaset. With my two boys, its like carrying a perfectly rounded water melon/or football, all upfront. With my daughter it was more evenly distributed, kinda all round weight gain..

Definitely an old wives tale. I was very sick for the first 2 trimesters and all I want are sweet sugary foods. I'm now 41 weeks 4 days pregnant with a beautiful baby boy.

I heard this means both and I dont know who's right, but I craved salty food, chips, cheeseballs, (yes very healthy I know!), meat, steak and kideny pies, salads. And I found out I'm having a baby girl! I always heard craving salt and savoury meant a boy, but I guess I heard wrong. I also had a lot of nausea in the weeks 6-8 and babycenter.com said it means a girl. They were right.
There's some fun tricks with a wedding band, a needle and thread, and chinese gender prediction tests you can do to while away time and guess what you are having, it was fun while time builds up to the big U/S.

It's a wive's tale.

Our bodies are wired by nature, to crave the nutrients that we need to function. The reason why we suddenly have cravings during pregnancy is because those requirements suddenly change.

Our bodies have a strange way of memorizing what foods carry what nutrients or effects and trigger patterns in our brain. Sugar might be craved because it is a comfort food to you, while pickles might be craved for their acidic nature.

Having said that, girl, or boy, cravings will fluxuate per pregnancy and it has nothing to do with gender!

With my girl I ate everything in sight, sweet, sour- etc. No particular cravings, and had morning sickness and evening sickness a lot. Now im 26 weeks with my son and I still have morning sickness, just when i first wake up. Ive been craving sour things and chili dogs, dont ask me why. I gained more weight with her, all over, where with this one I havent gained a lot and what I have is all in my belly. but its an old wives tale, just like the heart beat and the string test.

Someone told me that too, I was sick as a parrot for the first four months and was told it was going to be a girl, until I got cravings, all savoury and mostly spicy, told it would be a boy, and it is! Due six days ago, has caused me so many problems, being this awkward it could only be male lol ;p
