I bought some motorcycle leather trousers a few months ago and have put a little weight on since then. the trousers fit lovely round my legs but they are now just too tight around my tummy. Is there anyway i can stretch the waist an inch or so i will i have to wait for them to give a little on their own? ( they have only been worn 7 - 8 times and i can do them up...they are just not very comfortable!!)

Personally I think that wetting them and wearing them dry while riding is the best answer to your question. If you had lost weight, alteration would take them up satisfactorily but remember you specified that you had gained weight. Sewn leather being let out would expose needle holes outside of the seams, with leather this is undesireable and cannot be hidden. It also creates a sort of perforation similar to the " Tear along dotted line" effect. If you opt to wet and wear, do not soak the leather, dip them, put them on and wear dry two or three times. Besides, theres nothing sexier than a hot chick in wet leather. Send pics please.

You could try cutting a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe about 2 or 3" inches longer than the length needed to go into the waistband, that way as you bow the pipe slightly to put it into the waistband it will be putting some outward pressure on the pants.
Soften the leather a bit with some leather conditioner, then put the pvc pipe int here and leave it for a couple days, you may have to repeat this process but that should stretch them out a bit.
You can get PVC at most hardware store or at Lowes or Home Depot, it is common and inexpensive.
Hope this works for you good luck with it.

I wouldn't try to stretch them, the texture never feels the same after you wet them on purpose like this. They start feeling like an old pair of leather saddlebags or old boots. I'd try for the alteration (should be able to find one locally w/o too much trouble) OR there is some merit to what others have bluntly suggested, which is to try to get back down to size. Most everyone goes through this at one time or another, so don't feel bad. If you can "do them up" as you say, you shouldn't need to lose much for them to fit comfortably, and you will be healthier and more attractive because of it!

The method using water will work, but eventually, the gloves will feel too big. They will stretch out naturally as you wear them. I bought some that were just a wee bit tight when I put them on the first several times, but now I almost wish I had gone with the next smaller size since they have stretched out so much from wearing them. It will probably take a good solid week's worth of wearing them for them to stretch out, but they will do it without having to get them wet and possibly deform them.

I don't think it will give much for a while. I have quite a bit of leather stuff and even the older stuff is still fitted.

You could get someone to let them out a little, but it would need to be someone who knew what they were doing as most sewing machines hate leather. To be honest this would be expensive and you could probably sell yours to make up the money for a new pair.

HI,
perhaps you can have them taken out by a leather specialist or i think getting them wet will allow them to stretch a bit, but i dont think an inch or more!.
Ask at somewhere like a Leather Museum.

Go out for a ride in the rain - that will stretch them - don't know how much more tummy space you'll get but only other way to stretch them is wearing them a lot. PS the reason i say to wet and wear on the bike is because then they will stretch where they need to to make riding comfier

I'm afraid that the only way they will stretch out is by wearing them it'll probably take a few weeks though, with wear they will naturally stretch to fit your body. Mine nearly took two months to stretch out and i'm a small girl so don't worry they'll be comfy soon. Keep safe x x x
