ok so theyre all movement, walking specifically, in some form... lumbered is like a stuff movement, robotic with the legs. stride is walking with your head held high and very confident. stumbled is when someone is nervous, or just clumsy. and retreated is when the person is being attacked or is about to get attacked.

after a long day at work, the man lumbered into the kitchen. the wife striding back into the kitchen to check on her food, stumbled when she noticed he husband eating before dinner was ready, knowing that would affect his appetite. her face beginning to get hot, the man stashed the food back and retreated to the bedroom.

I lumbered along with a gloomy face because of a long night of arguing. My husband was in stride a step or two in front of me. He stumbled after I screamed "I'm sorry." Then we retreated to our bedroom!! Now I have a smile. ;-)
