they are taking off for several of the hottest weeks of the year and in the meantime nothing gets done to advance the cause of stability.

I cant even imagine it and they are doing it. They worried that U.S. would abandon them and they insisted on all kinds of assurances. now they are F***ing off to god knows where while US troops sit in the desert and bake.

so why do most people complain about the war in iraq ? if iraqis arent even bothered about it?

why is the US even there if their own government isnt. THEY just dont seem to want it that much.

it is their Iraqis decision to keep us there or not. if they said leave now the US would leave. They haven't they have continually begged US to stay and yet repeatedly pushed back deadlines for progress, and made excuses for the lack of it.

Now they're saying in effect "you wait here and risk further death for nothing while we go do something that you deserve way more than we do"

Oh you noticed that too? Tony Snow thinks that's fine, maybe we can get our troops home too, or at least some time off,
wouldn't it be a great photo op for Bush? He could be handing our troops hot dogs on the beach. With minesweepers in the background.
You know, if they don't care about their country enough to sit in air conditioned buildings and hammer things out, why should we send our guys out to fry in their heat?

It is the way they do things there. It is not up to you or anyone else to say whether it is allowed or dis-allowed. Iraq is their country. It is their culture and whether we think it is OK or not that is the way they do things over there.

edit:

Do you really think that the troops are there because the Iraqi's asked them to be there? They are there because the US government want them there. They will stay until the US government says go home. Iraq and the Iraqi people have nothing to do with it. In fact they are just in the way.

Actually I think Morale Leave should be given to all the US troops in Iraq at the same time, truck all them Kuwait for the month of August. Kuwait is a beautiful place with all kinds of relaxation for the GIs to enjoy. So, come September they be all refreshed and see how well things are left up North.

Iraq is a soverign nation. They can do whatever they want. The US Congress takes off as much as anybody. If they are anything like the US, the Iraqi Parliament is better off when the legislators are not in session. In that way, they cannot screw things up.

ALLOWED? We may not agree with their decision, but it's not our job to tell another country what to do. It's the USA that's keeping our troops in the desert; our president, at least, has the ability to bring them home at any time.

You guys were the ones who gave them democracy. Now they are taking advantage of it. Stop whinging about something you forced upon not going the way you would like to go.

"Allowed"? What would we do bomb them some more if they don't obey us?
