It wasn't at first. That was made painfully obvious in March of 2000 when the stock market crashed because of the "dot.com" bust.

Somehow, Google, Yahoo, Amazon and many other websites have figured out how to make money from the internet. It is sort of a new economy. I know for myself, for example, I've gone online to find things I couldn't find in retail stores. A lot of the stuff I bought represents money that wouldn't have been spent otherwise.

In some cases yes, but we must be aware that we control the computers not the other way around.
