Given that they were on holidays so all usual routine is out of whack, how did they manage to get all 3 of their children to sleep, all at the same time, and all conveniently at a time when the McCanns wanted to go off and have dinner?

And apparently they managed to do it all week, not just the day Madeleine went missing.

Or can we safely assume that sometimes the children did wake up, and as such there was always a huge risk leaving children alone in an unlocked room?

Faith - Anne S begs to differ lol. Guess it all depends on the particular children involved.

I have no idea how they achieved this. As qwikbrownfox has said that there were reports that madeleine did indeed wake up on a previous night found her parents missing and proceeded to search for them and the fact that the kids were left at the creche all day while the adults participated in other activities.
I have a 2 year old son and not every night he goes to bed at the same time but when he does he is good for about 3 - 4 hours, bear in mind he is running and playing with friends all day long and we live in the caribbean so the clean ocean wind is all over.

I imagine they were under the impression that being a little odler, Madeleine would look after her siblings. Yes that is a lot of responsibility for such a little girl but the main point is that they have alreayd been blamed enough, this has been a hard lesson for each of them.

Although it does appear to be rather suspicious circumstances. Unless the McCanns actually go to the same area on holiday, more then once, then someone must have been watching or knew exactly where the little girl was, the quesiton is also why they took her and not her yougner sister or infact brother also? I expect that the little girl is still alive and hope everyone will agree that she will simply appear or be found, unharmed and perfectly fine.

Although it is rather ironic that if it had been a child from lets say a spiritual community or no pactiaulr religion would have stirred up so much publicity, her parents are strict catholics, showing that religion stil has a fair maount of power behind it.

How come you claim to find it so hard to believe that they did just that?

If kids have a strong routine, and are used to going to sleep by themselves (by which I mean without being rocked or sung to and without a parent in the room) why should they not go to sleep when put to bed? My 2 year old daughter is a pretty good sleeper and can usually be relied upon to settle herself and sleep through the night. Why assume that the McCann children would not be the same or even better sleepers than that?

Anyway who said "their usual routine [was] out of whack"? Isn't it part of the problem that the McCanns preferred to keep the children IN their usual routine which involved them going to bed at the same time they would at home?

We can safely assume nothing, Dave, and certainly nothing that you suggest. You and your groupies even have people believing that the McCanns drugged their kids regularly just because it keeps being suggested. Just saying something like that doesn't make it true, no matter how much you, Dave, might wish it to be so.

You do realise that by wishing that the McCanns drugged their kids that you are wishing harm to them, don't you? I don't think that's something to be proud of, do you?

I cant get mine to sleep at the same time, and never have, even on hols, they fight sleep more when its all exciting!
If the British nanny had built up a great bedtime routine back home, maybe they could continue.
Must say the comment Gerry s made, I too have read this on other websites. It is always a possibility? But obviously we dont know.
In any curcumstance, it doesnt make it ok to leave them, whether they would wake or not. You can choke in your sleep, thats enough for me.

Do you think maybe they were drugged? I ask because I know from experience, after the first days jetlag if there is any. A child in a place like that would be excited and unable to sleep!! Unless the McCanns have totally broken the children down so they daren't make a sound after 6pm?

No idea how they were able to achieve this, but if this is true that they regularly drugged their children, then these so called doctors should not only lose their children (i refer to twins by social services) but also lose their licences to be doctors.

Another thing, we have all been on holiday abroad, with or without children and how many people rent a Safe Deposit Box, if there is not one in your room, to be able to keep Passport, money, jewellery etc safe. And these people leave something as precious as three children alone, and then show no emotion at all over maddie, obviously G still has his passport been back to UK 3 times........ Of course rented a Safe Deposit Box didn't he !!!!! I feel no emotion or sadness for Gerry by sometimes I do feel sorry for Kate at times she looks scared stiff and can very rarely open her mouth without G jumping in.....

I don't know - I wondered on this as soon as the story came out!

I have one son the same age as the twins and he has always been in a good routine and we could pretty much set our watches by him. We recently went away for a couple of nights and as his routine was knocked out it took ages to get him of to sleep. How they managed it with 3 is anybodies guess.

Dare I mention the range of sedatives available and the knowledge these two, as doctors, have?

good question mate. i've got kids and no way do they all fall asleep on command especially when on holiday. imagine the kids waking up, finding their parents not there...and being really scared....5 minutes to a frightened child is an eternity never mine 30. the mccanns are so arrogant they still don't think it's wrong to abandon kids...never mind kate mcccans dismissal of their being naive at worst for god's sake....these are the type who will NEVER admit they are wrong.

I think you will find some reports that Maddy wandered out of apartment on a previous night.

Yeah reading all this mighty odd - they put kids in creche all day then left them alone half the night.

What a holiday for the kids!!!!!

Don't know about that, but I've just been to the Sky News website and they have a whole section devoted to this child. Have they gone mad?? Hundreds of children go missing every day, what is so special about this one?
