lol to the question. That makes me happy. How can you NOT have "god crap" with heaven?
Out of hand, I'd say that heaven is wishful thinking. Think about it: peasants, poor farmers, the weak, the oppressed, the persecuted... Heaven is what has convinced people through history that their lives are not meaningless. It's what gets them to keep going. If a group of people is oppressed, either by a regime or simply by circumstances, they can survive if they have an idea to cling to. The meek shall inherit the earth. It's why Christianity thrived: in it's early days, the more it was persecuted, the more it was validated!
Heaven, in the Christian sense, is also a concept to placate the poor, the masses. After the years of persecution, when Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire (a political move more than a religious one) POLITICIANS chose what to include in the official religion. They wanted to control the masses. So, keep them happy. Tell them that there's a better world beyond this one, that they will be rewarded in heaven.
If you want a secular heaven, make one up. Your guess is as good as anyone's. Or, if you want something more official than that, Google it. That would be nicely ironic, don't you think? To discover what you're going to believe in by search engine...

Heaven is a word given to a place and a state of being that we dont' truely understand. I believe it is a spiritual place that we can't even imagine. It is such a mystery that we won't know until we pass from this physical world across the veil in to the spiritual place.
I have a son who died at age 21. Biggest loss of my life.
I looked at his body and it was so weird to have him not in his body. I often wonder if he now understands the mysteries of the universe.
I had a near death experience myself a few years ago. I was in the white light. My blood pressure was 30/ zero
I closed my eyes and I was in the white light. I had no human frailities. no fear, no insecurities, no need, no pain, It was total and complete joy and absolute brave. Well, I ended up makeing it through. I no longer fear the death process. although I am totally overwhelmed with wondering what mysteries lay there.
It is a scientic fact that the body weighed just before death weighs less after death. It is like the spirit and soul actually left the body and can be measured less than when alive.

I don't believe that Heaven is pearly gates and mansions and crowns. That is human symbolize to explain the utter grandure of what is in store for us on the other side./

I believe our brief time here on earth is fleeting compared to eternity. I am happy here for now.

Heaven is what we can't reach, touch and truly understand from our lives here on earth. Heaven is what brings life, sunlight and rainy days, life is good so it has to be a good place. It's also something that fuels our imagination. What is up/out there?
As a place I'd say it's something that we don't understand but like to think that our fantasies makes true. As a mental state I'd say heaven is the bliss we feel when we have our fantasies come true, even if it's only for a moment. (Only referring to good fantasies here, obviously.)

Heaven being this universe. When we die our bones go to the earth, we again nourish the earth and become a part of the mystery. Heaven is the termination of our conscious to a greater one.
That's one view without God, or is it?
Problem: humans can't define God.
Problem: humans don't talk in a language of infinite time, we're just a heart beat in time.

If you don't believe in God why are you worried about Heaven?
If there is no God then there is no heaven. I just wish I could understand how "you" can look up at the sky and not see the hand of God.
You know John Lennon never said there wasn't a heaven he just said imagine...imagine there is.
But to me Heaven is where my Father is and he waits for me and so does Jesus to welcome me home.
I think we all start out in heaven its just some of us forget we were ever there.

Deuteronomy 10:14-"Behold,the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God,the earth also, with all that therein is."

The idea of an afterlife first appeared among homo sapiens around 60,000 years ago, coinciding with the discovery of ceremonial burials around that time..... It makes sense that our primitive barbaric ancestors used the bribe of heaven and threat of hell to keep their tribesmen in line.

Oh , so you want to know about heaven but not if there are conditions! How magnanamous of you ! In other words it must all be on your selfish terms & the thought that there is a creator of the universe just doesn't fit !
Well , all of you unbelievers or sceptics , please consider this....every heartbeat of yours takes you one beat closer to finding out the truth because ALL of us will face eternity , some sooner than others !
The question I pose to you is , where will you spend it ? Your choice! Smoking or non smoking !

why would a non-believe want to know what heaven is? couldn't you use a less religious word, like what is "Perfection"? or what is a state of "peace/joy/eternal happiness"... sorry my bad, I guess non-believers don't have a word for heaven, since it does not exist for them.

they don't go to heaven after they die, they just get eaten by worms.
