Afternoon sunlight is warmer because the sun has been out all day - sun in the morning is cooler as it has been dark all night - therefore cooler in the mornings when it appears - the coldest part of the day is just before dawn - as it has been dark for the longest time ( all night ) the warmest part of the day is in the afternoon as it has been light and warm for the longest part of the day.

A photon of light, moving along at the speed of light, has a lot of kinetic energy. When that photon hits an object, its energy will be absorbed by the atoms in that object causing their kinetic energy to be increased. Heat is simply a measure of the amount of particle kinetic energy in a system. Heat energy will always dissipate to a system with less heat. When the sun sets for a location, its light is no longer putting heat energy into that area of the earth. That area then starts to radiate off its stored up heat energy thereby cooling itself. It has done the most cooling by the time of the next sunrise when the sun's light begins to heat things up again. After a day of heating things up, right before sunset is normally the hottest part of the day.
Now, there are going to be some meteorology buffs out there that are going to cry this is too simplistic. Yes, there are many other factors which can affect the temperature such as cloud cover, rain, directness of sunlight [i.e. season]. But, I am not going to get into ALL those other things here.
The sun is not significantly hotter or cooler than any other time. It is all just a result of how much light has hit a certain area.

I did my own experiment with a question like this one.
I wanted to know what difference visually is there between the time the sun goes down and the time the sun comes up.
I took pictures with the sun at the same levels on both occasions.
Sundown had more colors to it in the pictures, sun up was brighter with less colors.
I'm thinking the whole day warmed by the sun obviously takes a toll on the weather, brightness and colors in general... I don't really know for sure!

Actually the hotness you feel is due to the reflected sun's radiation from the earth.Sun's direct radiation falling on us does not heat us much ;it is the reflected radiation from the earth which produces more heat.The earth is being heated continuously from the morning and the hotness reaches maximum when the sun reaches overhead or immediately after that.The earth in turn heats the air immediately above it by conduction. So we feel the hotness more at noon or after that.

its hotter because between noon and lets say 3ish the sun is beating down more direct rays, therefore heating the atmosphere maing the temperature rise. as the sun sets, the heat is released into space and the atmoshpere cools

Mornings are are ready cool and when sun open its shop the heat earth it was initially cool. Slowly it heats up and from noon onwards it is hot and cools again in the evening.
