You have been given a room with a view. I am sorry you must have endured alot. But also you are probibly the type to have saved a few lives and made a difference in a dark world. I've seen more good in dark places then I've seen in good places. I can hear your question, it screams to me like you wouldn't believe. I want you to know that there is honor and integrity within the soul, I don't mean the "CODE of honor" I mean the thing that made you ask this question. You've shown me you are someone who has really been tested on the scale of honor and integrity. Law really doesn't play the biggest role in life (although..... it has solid worth) but.... when you say hard core, I can only asume you mean what you say.
But you haven't said what you want. Getting out isn't really an option for you. And you are also probilbly marked as one of them, perhaps you even have made your share of mistakes, to me I think it's forgivable. My advice to you.....is to become the bridge. Get indepentendent of them, become a giver, say for instance a big brother, work in group homes, but in order for you to become the "BRIDGE" you have to do some homework. read some selfhelp books, go seek help, not for you, I mean go see what is out there and why it's not working. Fix the gaps. Become the bridge. That is a leader, one that is needed and something that is missing. Be more understanding of where they went wrong, or where there parents went wrong. Don't be angry and trust yourself, you don't believe they are right do you. THen start to seek what you feel is right. I don't thing life is about good and bad, black or white, right or wrong. rich or poor. It's much more than that. Can you be the first in you familly? to carry the burden?
For the first time trust you good nature, and find some books? that will help you understand the world you grew up in. Then help those who have no chance, you have the insight and hopefully you''l get the knowledge and wisdom. We were given a shity job but you don't have to be one of them you have to be what you are. there are two types of criminals in this world, those who have the law on their side, and those that don't.
is it a crime to survive in an unjust world by stealing for a living, when those in power prevent you from feeding yourself in order to enslave you.
is it a crime to refuse the payment of unjust taxation's that are based on race or ethnicity?
is it a crime to cut off the balls of a serial rapist who raped and murdered your child, when the "justice" system will just release the guy on good behavior in six months time?
what is a criminal? the law abiding Banker that endorses a unjust service charge that steals from everyone. or a homeless guy who shoplifts a loaf of bread cause he's got no money and no one is willing to hire him.
Make friends with people, not their profession.

I would move away, make new friends, forget about the past! If there is something good in me, and I feel like that is not what I should be doing with my life, I would start fresh somewhere else!

you could do as linuca has answered, or you could accept you family and friends for who they are and you can continue to live your life knowing what they do...alternatively you could attempt to influence you family in such a manner so they discontinue their criminal activity or at the very least "tune down" what they do - so they do less of it...
