After I was told I had a withheld adjudification for racing 2 months ago, I was also told I would face no penalties. I get a letter saying my licence has been revoked for 1 year, 2 months after my court date. Now I think this may be a clerical error. Or could this be how it is? Has anyone had to go through this or know anything about it? Deciding if I should get a lawyer or not.

I doubt its a clerical error. Consult an attorney, the 1st consultation should be free. If possible, try doing it yourself, without a lawyer. If you need help, you can email me.

You can get a lawyer and challenge it.

However, the DMV has certain legal right with regard to being able to suspend your license, independent of what other sentence you might be given form the action itself.

As long as you were not acquitted (and having a suspended sentence, or a non-sentence, is not the same as an acquittal) the DMV may (maybe) be within their rights to suspend your license.

A lawyer in your state would be able to verify this, and could give you legal advice on what your options are.
