I am glad that you want to find a comfortable one you will wear. Stearns is a good name. West Marine is a good store. We have found a marine store better than a discount store.

Type II vests are pretty uncomfortable no matter what manufacturer. Places like West Marine, Cabellas, Bass Pro Shops, Gander Mountain all have pretty good selections. They also have web sites. Wal Mart and K mart are also good places for them, but only the stores near the shore.

Boaters World has every type of PFD you could need. They range from $20-50.

You can get brand new name brand PFD's on eBay for cheap.

When my boys were younger we always used Sterns brand, very comfortable.
