2/x + 8/3 = 1/6

Transpose 8/3

2/x + 8/3 - 8/3 = 1/6 - 8/3

2/x = 1/6 - 16/6

2/x = - 15/6

Multiply both sides of the equation by x

x(2/x) = (- 15/6)x

2 = - 15/6x

multiply both sides of the equation by 6

6(2) = - 6(15/6x)

12 = - 15x

Divide both sides of the equation by - 15

12 / - 15 = - 15x / - 15

12 / - 15 = x

Simplify

- 4/5 = x

2/x + 8/3 = 1/6
2/x = 1/6 - 8/3
2/x = -5/2
2 = -5/2x
2 / (-5/2) = x
x = - 4/5 Answer

Proof:
(2 / [- 4/5]) + 8/3 = 1/6
(2 * [- 5/4]) = 1/6
- 10/4 + 8/3 = 1/6
- 5/2 + 8/3 = 1/6
- 15/6 + 16/6 = 1/6
1/6 = 1/6

2/x + 8/3 = 1/6

subtract 8/3 for both sides
2/x = -5/2

multiply x for both sides
2 = (-5/2)x

divide -5/2 for both sides
x = -4/5

you may isolate first the term w/ x
2/x = 1/6 - 8/3

solve the right side of the equation:

2/x = - 5/2

cross multiply:
5x = -4

x = -4/5
