Fumigators. Department store, hardware, home depot/Lowe's. Be sure you get Fumigators. And enough to put at each end of the house, basement, and attack. If no basement, put one under the house.
These are set in water using the container provided. You will need to be out of the house, as well as pets. And put open foods in the refrigerator to prevent contamination.
The fumigators put out a smoke like poison that penetrates every crack and crevice. We use them each spring and rarely have a bug or spider. Much better than any other method.

Edit: the fumigators do not leave much of a smell. Open up the house and air it out afterward.
You will not have to wash everything. Just put opened foods -serial, bread, chips...- in the fridge. That will keep them sealed away. If you are concerned about dishes, put them in the dishwasher and close it tight or box them up and take them with you. It is not necessary, but if it will help you feel better....
Spiders do not groom themselves. That is why it is so hard to spray and get the spiders. They must be hit directly. The FUMIGATOR gets to them. All other bugs groom themselves, but they must walk on poison so they will get the poison on the little feets. Then they lick -sorta- their feet.
I really don't know any non-poisonous way to get rid of bugs.

the 50 leg thing is a house centipede It is harmless. In fact it eats smaller insects. I say spiders can stay, but they have to work.

I would say cleanliness. Just make sure you clean up and dont spill crums on the floor. Leftover crums on the floor attracts insects.
