I have never dated a girl named Happiness, Felecity maybe , but Happiness never.
To be serious there is little if any difference and all that it seems to be is a matter of how long the joy lasts before you consider it to be happiness.

I equate joy with laughing and feeling peppy at the same time.
Happiness has a more calm inner peace feeling to it, I guess.

i think joy is a more powerful, temporary feeling. happiness is a state of being.
