maybe...i got nothin....well to answer: because the person on the other end may feel akward and required to say it back while they may not mean it.
Like this:
My ex would always message me and 'i love you!' and I would have to type 'i love u2' as in the band u2 because I dind't love him, but i was put in that akward situation where i had to say it.
