It's really up to personal opinion. But, looking at the specs from both yamahaYZ450F and kawasaki KX450F websites, They both have the same engines, except the yamaha has an 5 valves instead of four that are made of titanium, Yamaha 1- kawasaki-0.Now looking at ground clearance, the YZ has a good extra inch on the KX. Y-2/K-0. However, they both have the same travel in shocks, around 12 inches. The has a seat height of one inch less than the YZ, so if your a little shorter, it works. But the KX has 1/10 more of fuel capicaty then the Yamaha's 1.8 gallons. But the yamahas has hydraulic brakes, which stops faster and smoother than the KX's semi floating discs. The yamaha's compression ratios is 12:3:1, which is better, compared to kawasaki's 12:0:1. So the yamaha is better in many aspects.

I have to go with the others. Yamaha by far is better that kawasaki's but I am biased because I own a yammie. They just look better but if you strip the colours and names they are very very similar bikes so I guess it comes down to what colour you like the best!

The big 4 companies are all equal. It depends on the shape the individual bike is in if you not buying new. Which you should never due.....You can save a grand and have a bike thats been ridden twice. Check out a shootout edition for they year you are looking to buy in mx action or dirtbike magazines.

I have owned all of the brands over the years.

If your looking for a 4 banger (which more than likley you are) then I'd have to go with the Yamaha.
They started the whole 4 stroke revolution with their 1997 YZ400F that Doug Henry rode to a Vegas supercross win and later a motocross championship.
They are the pioneer in 4 stroke technology and Kawi has only had theirs out for a few years. (not to say theirs isnt a fine machine)

What with the technology these days , most bikes, road, track or dirt are pretty close in acceleration, top end and handling, so it more comes down more to the technique of the rider than anything else.BUT - I DO love Hondas !.

Honda always get my vote. But out of the 2, I'd say Yammy.

There is no correct answer for this question. You need to ride both bikes to see which one works for you.
