The Stratosphere Hotel offers military discounts
http://www.stratospherehotel.com
And they are already the best value hotel on the strip anyway.
If you can go from December 9th - 28th those are the cheapest days of the year for room rates in LV.
Mystere at Treasure Island is the best show(IMHO)
"O" & Ka are also great shows.
for things to do
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/activities.cfm
http://www.vegas.com/attractions
Those are perfect dates for getting great room rates!
I checked http://www.travelworm.com
Orleans - $35
Stratosphere - $38
Palms - $65.40
Bill's Gamblin Hall - $72
Both Orleans & the Stratosphere will price match.
The Palms is very nice.
Bill's is in the middle of the strip.
Jubilee is a very good show. >If you're not already a member of Harrah's "Total Rewards" slot club - Sign up at Bally's and they will give you 2 free tickets to Jubilee, only one of you need sign up, and no, you do not have to play, just sign up. If you would like to see Mac King at Harrah's the other can sign up at Harrah's and they will give you 2 free tickets.

Hello, I am military and planning a trip as well when I get back from deployment. I return in October and plan to visit vegas with a few others from this deployment in November. Anyways, I have been researching the same things. For somewhere nice to stay, call Caesars Palace. I dont know your budget (trust me i know your pain on the lack of pay..ha), but they have a good discount. We are going over T-Giving weekend and got a room for $100 a night. Thier normal price they said for the timeframe was 300+ (prob for the weekend rate). I am actually staying for 11 days as my girlfriend's family is there. But, for all 11nights, its 100 even per night. Since it is under the Harrah's umbrella, you may be able to call the one of the other 5 vegas Harrah's properties and get a similar type discount and be even less than the 100 a night. Just have to call though as they dont have the government rate online. Good Luck and Have a blast..you guys deserve it!

you can contact nellis afb, here in vegas and take advantage of the military discount they give out for shows on the strip... here's the link:

i found that using expedia is way more expensive than just using the cheap airlines, like southwest. as far as hotels go, you should prob expect to pay at least 50/night. there are soooo many places to go and renew your vows and it's pretty inexpensive... like 200 or less. if you take a cab, i believe its around 3 bucks for the first 1/11th of a mile and 20 cents for each additional 1/11th of a mile. it adds up! i guess it depends on how long your plan to stay out here. another alternative is the bus. but it might be worth it to just rent a car for 30 bucks a day and experience all of vegas. catching a show to celebrate is a good idea. something that is entertaining and on the cheaper side is mystere... a cirque du soleil show. i think the cheapest ticket is around 60 bucks. a good dinner place that i like is "the melting pot." it's really expensive, like maybe 110-120 for two for their "big night out" meal. it's a fondue place, and unique. it takes about 2 hours to get through the courses. so if you guys have a lot to talk about that may be a good place... otherwise, just about every hotel has a nice restaurant to eat at. i think it would be about 50/day on food (more if you want to eat at sit-down restaurants for more than one meal), to rent a car would be about 30-40/day, hotel 50-60/day. anyway, i hope that helps. you should def check out the nellis air force base website or contact their office to get cheaper show tickets. good luck with everything.

I didn't find any when I went (we stayed at TI and it was really nice but we had to pay full price). I found that a lot of the chain hotels that would normally offer a military discount didn't in the hotels closer to the strip. But if you're interested in any Cirque shows they offer a substantial military discount - we got 5th row seats to Mystere for more than 1/2 off. Have fun!

I'm looking for the same trip. American airlines has the best military airfare. Try leaving from a large airport. For hotels, I found hotwire.com to be $125 a night for 4-star, $100 3.5-star. Priceline.com you can name your own price. If you are looking for really cheap hotels, there are several that are in the $40 range. A rental car is not needed if you stay on or near the strip. In December it is cool outside, and you can walk everywhere as long as your hotel is centrally located. From the airport to the strip is only a few miles, and cab fare is reasonable. Wedding vows can be renewed at several chapels, drive-thrus or at the large hotels. If you find anything let me know. Good Luck!

I know when my boyfriend got back from Iraq the last place he'd have wanted to go was Vegas - too much going on esp. with the crowds and noise. He went to California (we're from NY) to relax on beaches and less-crowded city areas. But you know you're husband best and if Vegas will be cool with him when he is back, go for it. Check Kayak.com for good airfare and hotels. Many airlines also have military discounts if you call directly (like American Airlines). For hotels, check tripres.com - they have THE best hotel rates including the stratosphere for $35 a night on weekdays! Check out traveladvisor if you want to look up info on your hotel. Finally, as in Orlando, Vegas has tons of timeshares - which means you can do a 1 or 2 hour presentation (say no over and over) and get tickets, free dinners, etc. We once sat through an hour presentation and got a dinner and gondola ride at Venetian - which usually costs well over $100 so the hour of our time was well worth it! Just remember not to buy! Good luck!
