Just from observing society, I understand celebrities and public figures are seen as role models to kids. However, it seems celebs and public figures are above the law, and from this, do you think this is the way to break the rules and get away with it?
don't you think kids might see it this way. They might think, "If I am famous and I have a lot of power then most likely when I break a law I will be treated better."
Do you think instead of celebs and public figures are being paid too much money for doing a simple act, that instead the high paid jobs should go to our teachers and professors who guide our next generation and to people whose jobs require them to clean waste, human waste?
Therefore, celebs and public figures should be paid at a rate on how much most of our teachers make?
Thus will set an example to the new generation not to focus on doing simple acts, instead learn how to create, create ideas to better the society, create responsibility for the survival of one another.

Yea for driving without a license. For the 3rd time! For a common person it would not take a third time before you go to jail. And how long did Paris stay in jail. Then go home for a house arrest. Wow thats punishment!!!

If it is your passion to be an actress, then money should not be your concern, what your concern should be is how to express yourself in films, like art.
Now if you make it big that's great.
But teacher have the toughest jobs since each generation changes, and the way you present the information is the most important part for society. Becasue Information is very, very, vrey important.
I understand the hard work athletes and actors do. And I respect that, but what role does it really play in molding the future of society?
And after their careers are over what now, what can they do?broadcasting, business, what else. People have been pushed to be athletes all their life, to glorify themselves, but in the end they take pain killers to help with the pain, surgeries just for them to walk. And they have no clue what else to do in life. They stroke their egos for so long that when reality comes crashing they fall even farther down. Most of my friends are athletes.

My point is that, some of them their careers are over due to injuries, but now I see them struggling because that's all they know! which is how to be an athlete, they have no options. Yet they need money to help with the chronic pain for the rest of their lives. And they lost all their endorsements. Their pay should not be on their simple acts but a compensation to pay for their medical treatment.
Teacher should be paid more for they could train athletes whose careers are over, to find other options. Too much attention is on the glory of sports, which is good, I love glory, but what about after the glory. What next?
What the television or newspaper show about retired athletes is a small percentage compared to athletes around the world. I have been around the world and sad to say many athletes are left with no options. Some of my friends who lost their endorsement at the age of 21 due to injuries don't know what to do, and end up bouncing around from job to job.

They should be given a slap all right - but not on the wrist! A quick kick in the rear would be more appropriate. No one person is better than another and I don't see anything in the Constitution about a celebrity being more equal and having more rights than us "common folk." When celebrities start laying their life on the line like the military, police, firemen, EMTs, and actually do something good for humanity like teachers, nurses, then the fortunes that they are paid would be justified. You have a good idea about the distribution and redistribution of wealth but Karl Marx thought of it first.

The founding fathers hated the idea of a privileged class, and when setting the framework for this country sought to insure equality.
Human nature, being what it is, turns it around.
Yes, the rich and famous have been getting away with (sometimes!) murder.
I think we are seeing a trend now, where they ARE beginning to get nailed.
People are people, whether they be rich or poor.
I like to say that money does not change a person, it only AMPLIFIES what is already in the person. They do more, and bigger of the same.
Truly, you are right. The other professions should be better paid.
People pay a huge buck for entertainment, even sports figures. It seems so unreal.

Everyone is to be treated the same no matter the position in life. Sleep with dogs, wake up with fleas.
Celebrity comes with risk but so do many other positions. When deciding on a career it's critical to weigh the risks and gains. Fair compensation for work shouldn't be an issue, it is because many of the more dangerous positions are publicly funded. If our schools had the budget Paramount Pictures has teachers would make more. There is a fine line between fair pay and socialism. Equal pay for all professions has huge repercussions.

NO....This whole sport star celeb phenom has gone over the top. Most of them are extremely overpaid and not as talented as they would have you believe. It all starts at home...if people would just stop fueling the fire by watching all this crap...it would disappear. But since it seems to be all anyone cares about, they ram it down our throats. These people put their pants on just like anyone else. Laws are laws and it should make no difference who you are. As far as the whole role model thing...that is just another one of those things parents should be teaching their kids about. Explaining the difference as to good versus bad, etc. The teachers and some other jobs in society should be much higher paying by far. Just look at what kind of brats and gangbangers they have to deal with these days.

I don't get this "harsher punishment" thing. I think they should get the exact same punishment anyone else would get. No more, no less.
Now, as for pay rate. Why do you think they should be paid what teachers are paid? You don't set doctors or lawyers pay at that rate. Do you have any idea what it takes to be an actress or a football player? Do you realize that it takes lots and lots of hours of hard work and that their careers are often shorter because of the kind of work they do and that has a lot to do with their rate of pay? Sports players can be knocked out of their careers because of an injury in just one game. Sorry, but I disagree with you on this one.
I am an aspiring actress, and until I started studying acting I had no idea what it took. It takes hours of work studying for a part. It is difficult to get auditions. You work and work just to get your first one. You are lucky to get your first break. If you finally make it, you hope that you make it big, and maybe you get lucky and you do, but it often takes a long time working for next to nothing before you start making good money. Then, you may make a few big films and then go dry for awhile. The number of film stars making huge amounts of money is very small compared to the number of actors and actresses out there. It's a rough business. So when someone finally makes it big, it's sort of like a writer who has been writing for years and finally wrote a best seller. All those years of hard work finally paid off. A lot of people have said to me, "you got it so easy, going for that cushy job, there's nothing to it". But then most people tell me they could never memorize 30 pages of lines and get up on a stage in front of several hundred people and perform live and do it convincingly.
BTW, I originally was going to be a teacher. Frankly, it was a lot easier to teach little kids than to do this. It's just that this is my passion.

I think we should go out of our way to ignore so called celebrities. When someone says "did you hear about Brittney Spears...? or Paris Hilton? You should respond - "who's that?"
We should all scrupulously avoid mentioning their names, talking about them, or acknowledging that we even know who they are. And when they are pulled over by the cops and they smart-off, they should get a beat down like the rest of us would if we lipped off to a cop.
That's what they feed off of. The fact that we are too stupid, and bored with our average looks and purposeless lives, glued to the toob making them rich.
Wake up America - turn off the tv. Tell these people to get real jobs - we're not going to pay attention to them any more.

No, They should get harsher sentences because they make a greater example and are role models for far more people than non-celebs.
and yest, teaching should be a much more prestigious job than it is, higher paid as well.

I think celebrities should get harsher punishments and less pay, they get paid too much and it encourages them to waste money!
