simple, acknowledge the situation that's making you nervous.
there's no way escaping.
when i get nervous i do thes following things
1)just try and breathe calm..
think optimistically and KNOW they like you..
that's some things i do..
2)meditate-it really helps...breath very deep hold it and let it go...
take a few moments every morning to breath deep
3)exhale slowly through your mouth
4)drink a hot cup of chamomile tea
5)take a bubble bath, light some candles and listen to my favorite music.
6)accepting it will help you feel ease somehow. then massage the tip of your fingers by holding the press few minutes and then releas
7)stretch

I can't.... I know this may not help at all but honestly, I can't calm down when I'm nervous. I've already tried everything from music, sleeping, eating, shopping, doing my hobbies etc...nothing works. They just distract my mind temporarily but eventually I'll always remember and come back to the things that make me nervous in the 1st place so they don't really matter.
The only thing I can do to overcome my anxiety is to go through/face my problems. If I already pass it, it feels like a big stone has been lifted off my chest. It just feels so good when it's all OVER! LOL

One good way is taking long deep breaths if possible. In through the nose, hold for a second, then exhale through the mouth, all slowly. This calms a lot of people down, though many have never tried it, but it actually does work.

I like to take a bubble bath, light some candles and listen to my favorite music. It's also a good time to do some meditation, or just lie there with your eyes closed. If that doesn't work, try to find a quiet place and curl up with a good book.. Good luck!
