I have, I probably shouldn't have...but I did. It was more of a sympathetic apology rather than a, "I'm the cause of this" apology.

Probably, although i don't specifically remember, but i do say i'm sorry for things like others losses, illnesses or misfortunes. You know: 'I'm sorry your dad died." or, "I'm sorry you lost your job." Stuff like that.
