I Understand!
People who congregate in groups - weather in or out of church or at church sponsored events - and are social to no one outside there group? Are usually the ones who talk “gossip” or worse. They are not there for the right reasons. Church and outside events that are planed. These events as “Youth Programs” are to teach or help the youth in that community and elsewhere - they are not social gatherings. These should be gatherings for persons “youth or whoever” to learn more of the church and its true reason to help bring others closer to God. You’ve heard it said “You are judged by the company you keep”? “And by the fruit you bare”?
I personally – Go for you and don’t allow others to rob you of listening and receiving Gods word and blessings and having fun meeting others. You just might see a change in those that would not allow you in – but – want to then be “in” with you.

If you truly do not want to get involved with the girls' attitude/behavior, then I guess the best thing to do is to ignore them. I understand that this decision would be difficult knowing that the girls may talk more about you. If you want to take the risk, stand up for yourself. Confront the girl(s) and tell them what they're doing is wrong and remind them that they are at Church. From every corner there's always annoying people like these so the best way is to be able to deal with it cooly without letting it get to you. The more you stress over the fact that you don't "fit in" at church may make you a better target for the girls. The best way is to relax, and have the most fun you can get from being there. This way, the girls will see that you're not so uptight about people talking about you. Next time you hear these girls talk mean about something, just laugh it off. :)

This is actually a very common occurrence from junior high to high school age.

Trashing others is a way of bonding with friends and making the trasher feel a bit better about their own insecurities... if someone seems worse off than them, they feel better.

Eventually the behavior, especially when done too much, will start to alienate the trasher, and when they realize the cost they cut it out.

As to what to do about it, I'd say everyone goes through this. The best thing to do is understand why they do it, and that it's not even really about you. If you place no value on what they say, then it'll be easier to deal with.

It usually doesn't help to confront them on it so much as it does to develop a thick skin. The sad truth is that throughout out lives, people are going to trash talk and we need to learn to let it roll off our backs.

You did the right thing by not fighting. Who knows, maybe the girls are jealous of you. Or maybe they just have some serious attitude problem. Either way, just dont worry about it. If you really want to, then talk with the girls and find out why they pick on you.

If you were the devil, where would you send your people in to stir up trouble? ... One thing I notice about your sad speech is the total absence of mention about Jesus. A lot of people try to use church for everything under the sun except honoring God. When that is the case, of course the people outside the church are more honest and direct!

you go to church right? base your actions on what jesus would do.

don't curse them or get mad. just pray for them. i totally understand. church is totally going to have so many cliques, but just because those girls are at church does not make it okay for them to be talking crap. just don't worry about them---focus your eyes upon what god wants for your life.

good luck!
