I agree with the posts above that Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Cars and Duran Duran are in the top for me too! I would suggest getting an '80's compilation CD to get a broad range of music from the time. Girls' bands were hot too ... like The Bangles, Bananarama and The Go-Go's. Then there were the sappy love songs from Chicago and Air Supply. J. Geils Band was one of my faves ("Angel in the Centerfold" and "Freeze Frame"). Check out Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy". Great songs!

Here is a link for a site with some great 80's hits/lyrics to give you a place to start.

Metallica: master of puppets (great album)

Nine Inch nails: pretty hate machine... if you're into more poppy music. released in 89

various songs:
sweet dreams (forget who that's by)
rhiannon by fleetwood mac
the chain by fleetwood mac
crazy train by ozzy osbourne (also, blizzard of ozz is another good album)

this isn't really 80s (more 70s), but black sabbath rules. we sold our souls for rock and roll is an excellent album. just find that greatest hits anthology to get the best ones.

well, that'll get you started.
