I planted , at the time was 12 inch little palm trees in my flower bed. Man !! it looked great at the time. Well a year later......... It was a mistake. They are now over 5 ft tall, and look really bad 4 a flower bed and need to be removed ASAP and planted else where. My question is : How, (I mean with the roots and all) do u just cut through them? Is it ok to do this time of the year (in Texas heat)?
PLEAZ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Landscaper designer constructor and horticulturalist in Australia. I work allot with palms. Ok this is a bad idea durring the heat but if you have to do it the here is the way to do it. Firstly you need to dig out around the roots of the tree. This will be about the same size as the canopy. If you are unable to dig all the roots out then make sure you get a good root ball on each of them. The more roots you can dig and not cut the more chance of a good relocation. Keep the roots moist. Try wrapping in cloth and wetting as aposed to sitting out in the heat. Roots die quickly when exposed to oygen without a medium like soil. When you have got them out decide on a spot that they will be happy in based on the size that the tree will look in 5 years from now, not its current size. Dig holes that are larger than the root ball. If the soil is clay make shore you do not smoothe the soil on the holes and allow for no water to escape as it will rot out the roots. In other words break up the soil at edges. Plant trees no deeper than previously planted or again rot may occur. Give the trees god soil and a planter starter tonic to help with the transition. Hope this helps. Anymore questions regarding this I am happy to answer.
