I have already seen the movies and I really like them. I know that books are almost always better than their movie translations. Will the books of the movie versions I have already seen still be exciting?

I bought Half Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix today and I will start reading them soon. Should I buy the 1st 4 books too and read them 1st.

Thanks in advance for your advice!!!

Personally, I think the books of each of the movies have been much better than the movies. It doesn't matter if you have seen the movie or not, you will certainly enjoy the books. As it is, so many people watch the movies more than once, so why not read the book. In all reality, the books are much more detailed and a lot is left out in the movie, so, by reading the book it will give you a greater scope of what JK Rowling was really trying to say. It definetly goes for the most recent movie in which so much of the book was left out of the movie. I think you will enjoy the books and see them in a whole different light. There is always something different that you get out of the written word.

The books are way better than the movies. In fact, I rate the movie version of "Order Of The Phoenix" about a 7 on its own; but only a 2 when compared to the book. The films butcher the details in the books for the sake of getting the running time down to 2.5 hours.

It isn't vital to read them all in order if you have seen the movies; but it would probably be better that way.

I think you will find the books more interesting than the movies. You've got so much more room for imagination when you read a book. And because the books are longer and more detailed, it explains things that might be a bit difficult to understand if you just watch the films alone.

I would definetely read the books. After all, the movies are pretty much boiled down to just the major plot of the story, but there are tons of other little story lines, and cute scenes you never get in the movies. I don't think you need to read the first 4 before reading 5 or 6, but definetely read them.

The books will still be entertaining. Remember that some of the books are 800 pages and they turn out to be less than 3 hours of movie time?? The filmmakers are definitely leaving things out.

Yes, the movies actually enhance the books. JK Rowling had final say on the movies and if she didn't like something, it did not appear in the movie. The movies do follow the books pretty close.

Once, I was watching HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and I had already seen it, so I was following along in the book. The director completely skipped over Chapter 3 and a few others!

The books are far better they go into details the movies are not able to add due to the time.If they followed the books the movies would be twelve hours long........OK maybe six hours.
